A journal dedicated to the advancement of research in the higher nervous system and to interdisciplinary research and communication, IPBS covers such topics as the behavioral and physiological sciences of physiology, physiological psychology, psychopharmacology, ethology, behavioral medicine, biological psychiatry, and medicine. It contains articles pertaining to original research, and empirical, theoretical, review, apparatus, and historical topics.

Integrative Physiological and Behavioral Science aims to encourage interdisciplinary research and communication focused on neuro-regulatory and adaptive processes inte-grated at the level of the whole organism.
Reports of original research, commentary aimed at interdisciplinary synthesis, critical reviews, historical vignettes and correspondence are welcome.
Reprints may be ordered by using the reprint form which accompanies proofs from the publisher.
1. Manuscripts with a 1-1/2 inch margin on all sides and in triplicate, double-spaced throughout and accompanied by a lead abstract not exceeding 250 words, should be mailed to Dr. Joseph E. Steinmetz, Department of Psychology, Indiana University, 1101 E. 10th St., Bloomington, IN 47405-7007. Submission of a manuscript to the journal implies that it has not been simultaneously submitted elsewhere or previously published.
2. A running title not to exceed 40 letters and spaces should appear on a separate page with the full name, academic or professional affiliation and COMPLETE ADDRESS OF EACH AUTHOR.
3. Table(s) in Arabic numerals designed for printing horizontally on the page should be typed (double spaced) on separate pages.
4. Figures identified by Arabic numerals should be submitted as glossy prints or high-quality computer images. Photo reproductions, such as Xerox, will suffice as dupli-cate copies. The author's name and figure number should be clearly marked in light pencilling on the back of all figures. Figure captions, one for each figure, should be typed on a separate page. Permission for reproducing nonoriginal work must be submitted.
5. Statistical methods used should be clearly identified.
6. References should be typed alphabetically according to author's surname. Journal titles should not be abbreviated. They should be cited in the text by placing the author's surname and year of publication within parentheses.
7. All approved, final submissions should be sent on IBM-compatible disks in WordPerfect 6 (at the most) or MS Word format.

References to books should be listed as follows:
