About the journal
Group Processes & Intergroup Relations is a mainstream social psychology journal dedicated to social psychological research into group processes and intergroup relations.
Targeted at social psychologists and researchers in intersecting disciplines, it publishes empirical, theoretical, and review articles on basic and applied aspects of the social psychology of groups: this includes group phenomena and phenomena influenced by group membership, ranging from small interactive groups to large scale social categories, and from basic social cognition and the analysis of interaction to the macrosocial study of intergroup relations. GPIR thus provides a scientific forum for basic and applied social psychological research into many areas of critical social concern including: prejudice . discrimination . stereotyping . social categorization . minority and majority influence . conformity . group decision-making . leadership . group structure . group socialization . bargaining and negotiation . intergroup conflict and cooperation . collective action and cognition . social identity . language and identity . ethnic and cultural relations . and social dilemmas.
GPIR is also strongly committed to the international nature of research on group processes and intergroup relations. The editorial team comprises a broad range of
scholars and researchers from around the world.
Together, these experts are committed to ensuring the journal represents the very best research on group and intergroup phenomena from a social psychological
perspective, as well as other related disciplines such as sociology, organizational psychology, cross-cultural
psychology, language and communication.

Notes for Authors
Manuscripts should be prepared strictly in accordance with APA publication guidelines as described in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th ed.). Manuscripts that do not conform to these guidelines will be returned un-reviewed.
Suggested target for word length is 5000-8000 words and text should be clearly organized with a clear hierarchy of headings and subheadings. Quotations exceeding 40 words should be displayed, indented in the text.
Tables and figures should have short descriptive titles, and camera-ready artwork or b/w glossy prints should be supplied for all figures. Authors are responsible for obtaining copyright permission for reproducing any illustrations, tables, figures or lengthy quotations previously published elsewhere. Authors should avoid using abbreviations, symbols and footnotes.
Authors are expected to have complied with APA guidelines concerning ethical publication and research practices. By submitting the manuscript to the journal the authors are agreeing that the work is not concurrently under review elsewhere and that the findings presented have not been published elsewhere. They are also agreeing that they have conformed to ethical guidelines and that authorship order accurately reflects relative contributions. Because English is the recognized international language for academic psychology, the journal accepts manuscripts and publishes articles in English only.
Manuscripts should provide a title page with an abstract of no more than 120 words that succinctly summarizes the key points and two to five key words to identify the contents of the article.
Full name of each author with current affiliation and full address/phone/fax/email details plus short biographical note should also be supplied. All manuscripts will be refereed but if blind refereeing is preferred, these author details should be supplied on a separate sheet.
Before publication, authors are requested to assign copyright to SAGE Publications, subject to retaining their right to reuse the material in other publications written or edited by themselves and due to be published at least one year after initial publication in the journal.
Authors will receive proofs of their articles and be asked to send corrections to SAGE Publications within 2 weeks. They will receive a complimentary copy of the journal and access to a restricted quantity pdf of their article.
Contributiors who are unable to submit online should send one copy of their manuscript together with a Word file to the Editorial Office:
