About the journal
The American Business Law Journal (ABLJ) is a quarterly law review published on behalf of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business (ALSB). The journal explores the whole range of topics related to business law and is an essential resource for both students and professors. For more information on submissions, please see the "Author Guidelines" tab on the left side of the page.

Instructions to Authors
Information for Contributors
Manuscripts: The Journal does not accept published manuscripts or those that will be published elsewhere.
Manuscripts may be sent simultaneously to other journals on the conditions that the Journal is so advised, and that the author informs the appropriate editor immediately if the work is accepted for publication elsewhere. One electronic copy of all manuscripts should be sent to:
Managing Editor: Ann Olazabal, University of Miami, abljsubmission@alsb.org.
Alternatively, manuscripts can be submitted via the ExpressO submission system. Please note that Word 2007 is not yet compatible with journal production systems. Unfortunately, the journal cannot accept Microsoft Word 2007 documents until such time as a stable production version is released. Please use Word's 'Save As' option therefore to save your document as an older (.doc) file type.
Copy: Because the Journal uses blind refereeing, the manuscript must not identify the author. However, the manuscript's first page should include the title of the piece. The author's or authors' name(s), institutional affiliation(s), address(es), and phone number(s) should appear either in a cover letter accompanying the manuscript or on a removable title page. All manuscripts should be formatted with footnotes rather than endnotes. All notes should be in compliance with the style rules stated in The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation, 18th edition. The author is primarily responsible for compliance with this system of citation and for the accuracy of the notes.
Tables and Figures: Tables may be included within the text or on a separate page, and they should show
the source at the bottom. If included on a separate page, the text should indicate the approximate place for insertion of the table (e.g., Table 1 about here). At least one camera-ready copy of figures and other graphic material should be provided with each manuscript. Please do not use figures that will become illegible when reduced to journal page size.
There are three preferred formats for digital artwork submission: Encapsulated PostScript (EPS), Portable Document Format (PDF), and Tagged Image Format (TIFF). We suggest that line art be saved as EPS files. Alternately, these may be saved as PDF files at 600 dots per inch (dpi) or better at final size. Tone art, or photographic images, should be saved as TIFF files with a resolution of 300 dpi at final size. For combination figures, or artwork that contains both photographs and labeling, we recommend saving figures as EPS files, or as PDF files with a resolution of 600 dpi or better at final size. More detailed information on the submission of electronic artwork can be found at http://authorservices.wiley.com/bauthor/illustration.asp.
Action: Consideration of manuscripts is normally complete within six weeks of their receipt. Requests for expedited review may be forwarded to the managing editor, Ann Olazabal. Accepted manuscripts normally are published within six to ten months of their acceptance. Authors are expected to proofread edited clean hard copy, galley proofs, or page proofs.
Reprints: Authors will receive a PDF offprint and 25 complimentary copies of the issue in which their article appears. Additional copies can be ordered at cost before an issue goes to press.
Indexing: The American Business Law Journal is indexed in the Business Periodicals Index, the Current Law Index, and the Index to Legal Periodicals. Journal articles also appear in WESTLAW® and LEXIS®.
Copyright Notice: The author(s) of each piece in this volume has granted advance permission for copies of that piece to be made and distributed, in whole, or in part, by nonprofit educational institutions for educational purposes, including distribution to students, provided that the copies are distributed at or below cost and identify the author, the journal, the volume, the number of the first page, and the year of the piece's publication.
