About the journal
|
 |
The main purpose of the EJPA is to present important articles which provide seminal information on both theoretical and applied developments in this field. The journal is directed to practitioners as well as to academicians: The conviction of its editors is that the discipline of psychological assessment should, necessarily and firmly, be attached to the roots of psychological science, while going deeply into all the consequences of its applied, practice-oriented development. Psychological assessment is experiencing a period of renewal and expansion, attracting more and more attention from both academic and applied psychology, as well as from political, corporate, and social organizations. The EJPA provides a meeting point for this movement, contributing to the scientific development of psychological assessment and to communication between professionals and researchers in Europe and worldwide. The journal presents clearly written original papers, reviews, and commentaries dealing with such areas as
- Concept and methodology
- Legal, ethical, professional, training issues
- Health and clinical, educational and organizational assessment
- Psychophysiological and neuropsychological assessment
- Psychological assessment and evaluation research

Instructions to Authors
The European Journal of Psychological Assessment publishes full-length papers on original research, provided they have not been submitted for publication elsewhere, as well as brief papers on test adaptations, test reviews, book reviews, and information on upcoming meetings, congresses and other professional events. The Journal appears four times a year.
Language: All contributions must be in English. It is recommended that authors who are not native speakers of English have their manuscripts checked by a native-speaker colleague before submission.
Manuscripts: Authors should follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (4th ed.) for general style and layout. Please arrange and type manuscripts accordingly. Nonstandard abbreviations should be defined in the text upon first use. Footnotes should generally be avoided.
All manuscripts should be submitted as Word files by e-mail to the following Editor-in-Chief:
- Hans Westmeyer, Department of Psychology, Free University of Berlin, Habelschwerdter Allee 45, D-14195 Berlin, Germany (Tel. +49 30 8385-5602/04, Fax +49 30 8385-5647, E-mail hawest@zedat.fu-berlin.de).
The title page should, in addition to the title, contain the name(s) and complete address(es) of the author(s) (if different from the address of the institution) and institution(s) where the work was carried out. The text should be written double-spaced with a margin of 2.5 cm (1") on all sides.
Regular full-length papers should generally not exceed 20 manuscript pages (double-spaced), including figures, tables, and references. They should normally be divided into Summary (not exceeding 200 words), Keywords (no more than five), Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgments (optional), and References.
Papers for the "Test Adaptations" section may not exceed 15 manuscript pages (double-spaced), including figures, tables, and references, divided into the same sections as regular papers.
Papers for the "Test Reviews" section may not exceed 10 manuscript pages. They should include full publication details of the test being reviewed, and should be divided into Type of Test, Test Materials, Test Design, Basic Concept, Administration, Scoring, Psychometric Properties, Review and Critique, Recommendation, References.
Publication of Data: Authors submitting empirical papers are encouraged to also submit a (DOS-formatted) floppy disk containing the raw data - preferably in a single file - on which the analyses are based (see the Editorial of Issue 1, Volume 16, of this journal). Upon publication of the paper, the data will be published along with the paper's abstract at the site http://www. hhpub.com/journals/ejpa.
Statistical and Mathematical Copy: Abbreviations and styling of statistical and mathematical symbols, Greek letters, etc., as well as spacing, alignment, punctuation, equations in text, displayed equations, and tabular presentation or mathematical copy, should follow the Publication Manual of the APA (pp. 111-119).
Figures and Tables: The number of figures and tables should be kept to a minimum and only be included to facilitate understanding of the text. The same information should not appear in both a figure and a table. Tables must have a title, be typed on separate sheets, and be intelligible without reference to the text. One set of figures with lettering should be suitable for reproduction, i.e., sharp glossy prints or drawings in black ink or good quality computer print-outs. Legends to figures should be typed on a separate sheet. Please indicate in the manuscript where figures and tables are to be placed.
References: References must include all and only works cited in the text and are to be arranged alphabetically. Works cited in the text within the same parentheses should be listed chronologically. The following formats are to be used:
- Journal article: Crisp, A.H., Palmer, R.L., & Kalucy, R.S. (1976). How common is anorexia nervosa? A prevalence study. British Journal of Psychiatry, 128, 549-554. (Please note: the abbreviation et al. is not to be used in the reference section. Journal names are to be written out in full. In the text, this work is referred to as Crisp et al., 1976.)
- Entire book: Author (date). Book title. City (State and/or Country if city is relatively unknown): Publisher.

Galley proofs and reprints: At the end of the manuscript, the complete postal address of the corresponding author (including fax, phone, and e-mail address) should be given. This person receives galley proofs of the paper in due course, and these must be sent back to the publisher by return mail. Changes in the style or content of the galleys can be made only in exceptional instances. Instead of royalties, the authors receive 25 complimentary reprints of their article. Additional reprints may be ordered for a fee; this order must be placed simultaneously when returning the galleys to the publisher.
Copyright agreement: By submitting an article, the author confirms and guarantees on behalf of him-/herself and any coauthors that he or she holds all copyright in and titles to the submitted contribution, including any figures, photographs, line drawings, plans, maps, sketches, and tables, and that the article and its contents do not infringe in any way on the rights of third parties.

- The rights to reproduce and distribute the article and its contents by all other means, including photomechanical and similar processes (such as photocopying or facsimile), and as part of so-called document delivery services.
- The right to transfer any or all of the rights mentioned in this agreement, as well as the rights retained by the relevant copyright clearing centers, including the corresponding royalty rights to third parties.
