ANDREW BOSCH
Dr. Andrew Bosch is Senior lecturer and researcher in the University of Cape Town/ Medical Research Council (MRC) Research Unit for Exercise Science and Sports Medicine, a division of the Department of Human Biology. Andrew's research interests can be divided into two categories: (i) fuel substrate utilisation during prolonged exercise, from physiological mechanisms to potential performance enhancement; and (ii) testing training methodology and physiological effects of training regimens. Andrew has been a serious runner for almost 30 years and his best time for the marathon is 2hr 22 min. Combining these interests has resulted in Andrew working with some of the best athletes in South Africa.

Dr. Britt Brewer is Professor of Psychology at Springfield College. His research focuses on psychological aspects of pain and injury in sport. He is listed on the United States Olympic Committee Sport Psychology Registry, 2004-2008, and is a Certified Consultant, Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology. LEE BROWN
Dr. Lee Brown is a Professor of Strength and Conditioning in the Department of Kinesiology at California State University, Fullerton and Director of the Center for Sport Performance. His research interests include sport performance, anaerobic assessment and neuromuscular adaptations to high velocity exercise including, limb acceleration and its generic components; physiologic responses of biosymmetrically dissimilar effectors; and the effects of different warm-up protocols on sprinting, vertical jumping, throwing velocity and baseball bat swing speed.

MIKE CALLAN
Dr Mike Callan is the President of the International Association of Judo Researchers and Principal of the Judospace Educational Institute. He is a Visiting Senior Lecturer and Director of the Judo Research Group at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge and a Didactic and Scientific Expert for the European Judo Union. He was elected as Secretary General and Treasurer of the Commonwealth Judo Association in Singapore in 2010. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity. He was awarded the International Olympic Committee Diploma in 2001 and the International Judo Federation Special Recognition Award in 2009. He holds the grade of 6th Dan. Mike is co-author of The Judo Coaching Handbook (2012), commissioned by the Croatian Olympic Academy.

MICHAEL CHIA
Dr. Michael Chia is Professor of Paediatric Exercise Physiology and the Dean for Faculty Affairs at the National Institute of Education in Singapore. He is the immediate-past Head of Physical Education and Sports Science at Nanyang Technological University. He is a BASES-accredited sports scientist (Physiology-research) and an ACSM Health/Fitness Director® and also the Vice-President of the Asian Council of Exercise and Sport Science (ACESS). He is active in paediatric research with more than 150 publications, books, book chapters, monographs, CD-Roms and presentations in the areas of sports science, training and health education. Michael is the chief steward and developer of the web-based and trademarked resource called Sports Science in Sporting Success™ (SSSS) and a patented PDA monitoring system called HealthTrek Information Tracking System (HITS) that is used by physical education teachers, coaches and athletes. His latest books include Sports Science and Studies in Asia (2010) and Personal Training 101 (2011) published by World Scientific and Imperial College Press.

LOREN CHIU
Dr. Loren Chiu is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Neuromusculoskeletal Mechanics Research Program at the University of Alberta. His research investigates the neural, muscular and anatomical bases of human movement and their influence on movement mechanics. In particular, athletic performance tasks are studied with the purpose of optimizing human movement. A major component of his program is knowledge translation, which involves providing performance sciences services to athletes. These services include performance evaluation and strength & conditioning training.

JAMES J. COCHRAN
Dr. James J. Cochran is the Bank of Ruston, Barnes, Thompson, & Thurman Endowed Research Professor of Quantitative Analysis at Louisiana Tech University. He has been a Visiting Scholar with Stanford University, the University of South Africa, the Universidad de Talca, and Pôle Universitaire Léonard De Vinci. Professor Cochran’s research interests include sample based and Bayesian optimization, statistical methods (particularly general linear models), statistical learning, and applications to sports. He was the founding chair of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) Section on Operations Research in Sports and has chaired the American Statistical Association (ASA) Section on Operations Research in Sports. He was a founding co-chair of Statistics Without Borders, and he established and has organized INFORMS’ Teaching Effectiveness Colloquium series and annual Case Competition. Professor Cochran also established the annual INFORMS/IFORS International Education Workshop series and has co-chaired several workshops through this initiative. In 2008 Professor Cochran received the INFORMS Prize for the Teaching of OR/MS Practice, in 2010 he received the Mu Sigma Rho Statistical Education Award., and in 2011 he was named a Fellow of the American Statistical Association. Professor Cochran is the founding Editor-in-Chief of the Wiley Encyclopedia of Operations Research and the Management Sciences and the Wiley Series in Operations Research and Management Science. DAVID CROMBIE Dr. David Crombie is a Research Fellow in the University of Cape Town / Medical Research Council (MRC) Research Unit for Exercise Science and Sports Medicine, a division of the Department of Human Biology. David’s research interests are in the role of emotional intelligence in sports performance, and the development of emotional intelligence training programs. As a runner and running coach, David specialises in long ultra’s and extreme endurance multi-stage self-supporting trail races. He is the founding chairman of the Endurance Challenge Charity Trust which raises funds in support of HIV/Aids orphaned children.

Dr. Bruce Elliott is president-elect (2003-2005) of the International Society of Biomechanics in Sports and sits on the Coaching Advisory Panel of Tennis Australia and the Research Boards of the Cricket Australian and the Australian Football League. He has 30 years of research, teaching and consulting experience in technique optimization in sport and injury reduction during movement. DAMIAN FARROW
Dr. Damian Farrow was appointed as the inaugural Skill Acquisition Specialist at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in 2002. He is responsible for the provision of evidence-based sports science support to Australian coaches and athletes seeking to measure and improve the design of practice and other aspects of skill learning. A former tennis coach and physical education teacher, his research interests centre on understanding the development of sport expertise, specifically investigating the role of decision-making skill and implicit (subconscious) learning. Damian is also co-author of two general interest sports science books, Run Like You Stole Something (2003) and Why Dick Fosbury Flopped (2006).

TIM GABBETT
Dr Tim Gabbett has 20 years experience working as an applied sport scientist with athletes and coaches from a wide range of sports. He holds a PhD in human physiology and has completed a second Ph.D. in the "Applied Science of Professional Rugby League", with special reference to the physical demands, injury prevention, and skill acquisition in this sport. Tim has worked with elite international athletes over two Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games cycles, and has held positions with the Queensland Academy of Sport, Tasmanian Institute of Sport, and the Brisbane Broncos Rugby League Club. He continues to work as a sport science consultant and advisor for several Australian football, National Rugby League, and English Premier League teams.

BILL GERRARD
Dr. Bill Gerrard has pioneered statistical performance analysis and an evidence-based approach to coaching in football, rugby league and rugby union. He has worked as a technical analyst with Saracens since March 2010. Bill also provides statistical analysis for the SkySports coverage of Super League. Previously he has worked with various UK football clubs, an Australian rugby league team, and Billy Beane and the Oakland A’s owners. Bill holds the UEFA B football coaching licence. He has acted as an expert witness in several sports legal cases. Bill is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen, Trinity College, Cambridge and the University of York, and is Professor of Business and Sports Analytics at Leeds University Business School.

Dr. Phil Graham-Smith is Head of the Directorate of Sport at the University of Salford, UK. Dr. Greg Haff is the Course Coordinator and a Senior Lecturer for the Masters in Strength and Conditioning at Edith Cowan University. He is the 2011 recipient of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)'s William J. Kramer Outstanding Sport Scientist Award. Dr. Yuri Hanin's work with elite athletes and teams focuses on stress, emotions, communication, and optimal performance. THELMA HORN Dr. Thelma S. Dr. Andy Jones is Professor of Applied Physiology at the University of Exeter. Dr. Mike Lambert is an Associate Professor and a member of the Medical Research Council/University of Cape Town Research Unit for Exercise Science and Sports Medicine, which is located in the Sports Science Institute of South Africa. Dr. Mike Leeds is a Professor at Temple University and is currently Director of the EMBA Program and Assistant Dean at Temple University Japan. He is an authority on labour economics, applied microeconomics, and the economic analysis of sports. A member of the International Association of Sports Economists (IASE), his research interests include the value of coaches to their teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA). KEITH LYONS
Keith Lyons is the former Head of the Department of Biomechanics and Performance Analysis at the Australian Institute of Sport. He has been involved in coaching and coach education for thirty years. He has had a career-long interest in educational technology and for the last decade has been exploring how coaches and sport scientists can use information and communications technology to support learning. Keith has worked with many national sporting organisations in Europe and Australia. He advises professional sports clubs and has worked with coaches to develop coaches' and athletes' personal learning environments. Keith is a former national coach for canoe slalom and assistant national coach for lacrosse. Much of his present work is focussed on supporting coaches to develop their practice.

CLIFF MALLETT
Dr. Cliff Mallett is a Senior Lecturer in Sport Psychology and Coaching at the School of Human Movement Studies at The University of Queensland, where he developed and manages the postgraduate programs in Sports Coaching. He has been National Coach for Sprints and Relays and Australian team coach including two Olympics. Dr. Jim McKenna is the Running Stream Professor of Physical Activity and Health at Leeds Metropolitan University, UK. He is also Head of the Active Lifestyles research centre. Starting as a teacher, he worked at the University of Bristol for almost 20 years where he became Head of the Department of Exercise and Health Sciences. Harvey Newton is author of Explosive Lifting for Sports (2002) and was the 1984 USA Olympic Team coach for weightlifting. He is a former editor of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)'s Strength & Conditioning Journal (NSCA) and executive director of USA Weightlifting and the NSCA. TIM NOAKES
Dr. Tim Noakes is the Discovery Health Professor of Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and the Director of the Medical Research Council (MRC) / UCT research unit for exercise science and sports medicine at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa. In 1980, he led the development of a sports science course at the UCT and in 1994 he co-founded the Sports Science Institute of South Africa. He is one of the most innovative thinkers in exercise physiology and this was recognised by UCT when in 2002 they awarded him their highest degree, a Doctorate in Science. He was a Founding Member of the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Science Academy in 1999. Tim is author of the Lore of Running (2002), which is now in its fourth edition; and co-author of Bob Woolmer’s Art and Science and Cricket (2008).

DONNA O’CONNOR
Dr Donna O’Connor is an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney where she developed and coordinates the postgraduate program in Sports Coaching. Her research interests centre on youth sport and high performance athlete and coach development, and science and football. Donna has 25 years of experience working with athletes and coaches from a range of sports. She was formerly the strength & conditioner for the North Queensland Cowboys Rugby League club and Australian Women’s basketball team. She is currently a member of the NRL research board and the World Congress Science and Football Steering Committee.

Dr. Raôul R.D. Oudejans is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Human Movement Sciences at the VU University Amsterdam. Currently his main research and teaching areas are perceiving and moving in sports and other high-pressure contexts with emphasis on the psychological factors involved in performing .His research is part of the research program, Perceptual-Motor Control: Developing, Learning, and Performing of MOVE Research Institute Amsterdam. YANNIS PITSILADIS
Dr. Yannis Pitsiladis is a Reader in Exercise Physiology at the Institute of Cardiovascular & Medical Sciences in the College of Medicine, Veterinary & Life Sciences at the University of Glasgow and founding member of the International Centre for East African Running Science (ICEARS) set up to investigate the determinants of the phenomenal success of east African distance runners in international athletics. ICEARS has created and maintains the largest known DNA biobank from world-class athletes (including world-record holders, world champions and Olympians) from a variety of countries and sports. He is a Visiting Professor in Medical Physiology at Moi University (Eldoret, Kenya), Addis Ababa University (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia) and University of Technology (Kingston, Jamaica). He is a member of the Scientific Commission of the International Sports Medicine Federation (FIMS) and a member of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) List Expert Group; the WADA Group in charge of establishing the Prohibited List annually. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

IAN RENSHAW
Dr. Ian Renshaw is a Senior Lecturer at Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane. Ian’s teaching and research interests are centred on applications of ecological dynamics to sport settings. Recent research has focussed on developing the links between sport psychology and skill acquisition; implementing constraints-led approaches in P.E and sports coaching; emotions and learning in sport; talent development; visual regulation of run-ups, and decision making in football referees. Dr. Tony Rossi is a Senior Lecturer in Pedagogy, Coaching & Communication Studies at the University of Queensland. Dr. Steven Rynne is a Lecturer and Research Fellow with the School of Human Movement Studies at The University of Queensland, Australia. GLORIA SOLOMON
Dr. Gloria Solomon is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Texas Christian University, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses in sport and exercise psychology and conducts research focused on expectancy effects in competitive sport with the intent to facilitate athlete development. An Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) certified sport psychology consultant and Fellow, she provides sport psychology services to university and recreational athletes. BRIAN SCHILLING
Dr. Brian K. Schilling is an Associate Professor and Director of the Exercise Neuromechanics Laboratory in the Department of Health and Sport Sciences. His research involves neurological and mechanical responses and adaptations to exercise with and without nutritional intervention. Most of his research has involved resistance training, but other modes of exercise are also of interest. Subject populations for his research include athletes, healthy persons, and clinical populations such as Parkinson’s disease. Brian is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

RAY STEFANI
Dr. Ray Stefani is an emeritus professor of Engineering at the California State University, Long Beach, USA. He seeks a fundamental understanding of the physics, physiology, causes of gender differential performance, rates of improvement, effect of historical events and effects of performance enhancing drugs related to Olympic gold medal performances in athletics (track and field), swimming, rowing and speed skating. He developed a least squared team rating system applied to predicting the outcome of more than 20,000 games of American football, basketball, European soccer, Australian Rules football, and Super Rugby. Home advantage has been studied in those contexts. He has contributed to the understanding of the types and application of 100 international sport rating systems (both for individuals and teams) and their ability to predict the outcome of world and Olympic championship events. He has advised the international soccer organization as to changing its world rating system and contributed to the millennium edition of the New York Times.

LEISHA STRACHAN
Dr. Leisha Strachan is an assistant professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management at the University of Manitoba. Her line of research focuses on integrating positive youth development research into sport and examining the experiences of children and youth from recreational to high performance sport involvement. TRAVIS TRIPLETT Dr. N. Travis Triplett is a Professor and Director of the Exercise Science Program, and Director of the Strength and Conditioning Concentrations for the Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Exercise Science at Appalachian State University. Dr Stewart Vella is Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Interdisciplinary Educational Research Institute at the University of Wollongong, Australia. Dr. Mike Voight is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Education and Human Performance at Central Connecticut State University. He has been a sport psychology-performance consultant for the University of Southern California since 1997 and a consultant to coaching staffs in collegiate and professional sport.
