About the journal

The Economic and Labour Relations Review aims to bring together research in economics and labour relations in a multi-disciplinary approach to policy questions. It publishes research that is country-specific or based on regional comparisons, or that analyses global trends. In the context of the severest economic crisis since the Great Depression, the journal encourages articles that critically assess dominant policy orthodoxies, as well as alternative models, thereby facilitating informed debate. The journal particularly encourages articles that take a critical approach to neoliberalism, that adopt a post-Keynesian (heterodox) approach to economics, or that explore rights-, equality- or justice-based approaches to labour relations and social policy.

Instructions to Authors
1. Peer review policy
The Economic and Labour Relations Review operates a strictly anonymous peer review process in which the reviewer’s name is withheld from the author and the author’s name from the reviewer. The reviewer may at their own discretion opt to reveal their name to the author in their review but our standard policy practice is for both identities to remain concealed. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two referees. All manuscripts are reviewed as rapidly as possible and an editorial decision is generally reached within 6-8 weeks of submission.
2. Article types
The Economic and Labour Relations Review publishes original scholarly / research-based articles (8,000 words maximum including abstract, tables and endnotes), review articles discussing a number of significant recent publications in context (6,000 words maximum), and shorter comments (6,000 words maximum) on contemporary issues, development and policy-making. The journal also publishes book reviews and a full list of up-to-date books for review is available from the journal’s editorial office.
