About the journal The Australasian Journal of Early Childhood (AJEC) is Australasia's foremost scholarly journal and the world's longest-running major journal within the early childhood field.
Published quarterly, AJEC offers evidence-based articles that are designed to impart new information and encourage the critical exchange of ideas among early childhood practitioners, academics and students.
Early Childhood Australia (ECA) provides the Australasian Journal of Early Childhood (AJEC) to subscribers both in hardcopy and online. An online annex offering even more articles, is also available for subscribers. Current subscribers can access AJEC online by following this link

We are interested in:
- AJEC articles – research and debate
- suggestions for themed AJEC issues
- article reviewers.
The AJEC Committee and theEarly Childhood Australia Publications Committee invite high-quality contributions on all aspects of the education and care of young children from birth to eight.
| Given the multidisciplinary nature of the early childhood field, Early Childhood Australia welcomes submissions from a variety of perspectives, the main criteria being that they provide a contemporary and informative contribution to the early childhood field.Interested authors and reviewers should look closely at the guidelines for contributors, found at the top of this page, and seek further information on the preparation of manuscripts from the Publishing and Marketing Section. |

Acknowledging different perspectives and methodologies...
The Australasian Journal of Early Childhoodpublishes both primary and secondary research articles aimed at an audience of early childhood academics, students and professionals.
Other 'non-conventional' articles are also invited:
- practitioner/educator voice
- research notes
- theorising in progress
- pictorial and narrative papers
- responses to articles
Themed issues...
AJEC regularly publishes an issue devoted to one particular theme or topic. Recent themes have been:
- autism spectrum disorder
- chronic illness
- researching with children
- innovations in preparing early childhood professionals
...the AJEC Committee welcomes suggestions for themed issues.
