About the journal
Cartographic Journal, The
The Cartographic Journal (first published in 1964) is an established journal of record and comment containing authoritative articles and international papers on all aspects of cartography, the science and technology of presenting, communicating and analysing spatial relationships by means of maps and other geographical representations of the Earth's surface. This includes coverage of related technologies where appropriate, for example, remote sensing, geographical information systems (GIS), the internet and global positioning systems.
The journal also includes international cartographic news, recent book and software reviews, articles and a list of recent maps and atlases.
The Cartographic Journal is now published in full colour throughout, including colour illustrations within articles, as befits the subject matter.
The Cartographic Journal is also indexed and/or abstracted in the following: Arts and Humanities Citation Index, Bibliography & Index of Geology, Bibliographica Cartographica, Computer Abstracts, Current Contents?Social and Behavioural Sciences, Geographical Abstracts, Geological Abstracts, ISI Alerting Services, Scopus, Social Sciences Citation Index and Social Scisearch?
Readership: The journal will be essential for: academics; cartographic technicians; cartographic producers and publishers; oil exploration companies; senior representatives of national mapping agencies; research and educational institutions; other professional bodies; software suppliers and users; librarians; designers and students.
Instructions to Authors
How do I submit a paper to a Maney journal?
The first step is to view the Notes for Contributors for
the journal to which you wish to submit using the menu opposite.
The Notes for Contributors will tell you if the journal has an online submission, tracking and refereeing system to which you can submit. If it does, you will be able to link directly through to this. A list of journals which have online submission and refereeing systems is also provided below. You will be taken to a Welcome Page, which has links to useful tutorials; guidance on how to register to submit your paper; and email addresses should you need help with your submission.
For all journals, and especially those without an online submission and refereeing system, please be sure to review the Notes for Contributors carefully since each journal will have slightly different procedures. These Notes will tell you how and where to submit your paper; the type of contributions accepted; and important information on style and layout.
All Maney journals accept and welcome submissions electronically as this speeds up processing time. However, please note that it greatly assists our editors and accelerates publication if authors ensure that the Notes for Contributors and submission procedures are followed carefully.
If you have any queries, there are email and address details for editorial staff to contact for assistance. These are usually listed at the top and bottom of the Notes for Contributors.
