About the journal

A respected source of the most up-to-date research on library and information science, The Canadian Journal of Information and Library Science is recognized internationally for its authoritative bilingual contributions to the field of information science. Established in 1976, the journal is dedicated to the publication of research findings, both in full-length and in brief format; reviews of books; software and technology; and letters to the editor.
The editorial policy of the journal is to continue the advancement of information and library science in both English and French Canada by serving as a forum for discussion of theory and research. |
The journal is concerned with research findings, understanding the issues in the field, and understanding the history, economics, technology, and human behaviour of information library systems and services.

Please submit manuscripts in Word or RTF format by email attachment to:

A tentative title and abstract of 50 to 100 words (preferably in both English and French) should be submitted with the manuscript. Final versions of accepted papers are to be submitted in electronic format, preferably in Microsoft Word format by email.
All manuscripts are evaluated by referees.
Manuscripts must be double-spaced. Use italics rather than underlining where applicable. Key notes (as normal text) should follow the body of the article or as endnotes.
Tables and figures should be numbered separately and placed together at the end of the document. Insert a location note at the appropriate place in the text (e.g., "Insert Table 2 here"). Key and tab tables as simply as possible. Figures must be sharp and clear, and must fit within the text area of a journal page (115mm x 175mm).
Overall style should conform to that outlined in The Chicago Manual of Style 15th edition, pp. 593-754 (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2003).
All references to sources are to be identified in the text by surname of the author(s), year of publication, and page number(s) where applicable. Examples: (Greenland 1994, 48); (Bertrand-Robert and Rackus 1994, 173-75; McGarvy 1995a).
The References list should be double-spaced, placed at the end of the main text, and ordered alphabetically by author and by year of publication. Examples:
