About the journal
The Journal publishes original research papers that advance understanding of the field of experimental psychology, broadly considered. This includes, but is not restricted to, cognition, perception, motor performance, attention, memory, learning, language, decision making, development, comparative psychology, and neuroscience. The Journal will publish: (a) papers reporting empirical results that advance knowledge in a particular research area, (b) papers describing theoretical, methodological, or conceptual advances that are relevant to the interpretation of empirical evidence in the field, and (c) brief reports (less than 2500 words) that describe new results or analyses with clear theoretical or methodological import. It is the policy of the Journal to minimize publication lag and editorial decision time on brief reports. Occasionally, the Journal will publish book reviews judged to be of broad interest to the experimental psychology research community.
Instructions to Authors
Manuscripts may be submitted in French or in English and should conform to the format described in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. Please consult the Manual particularly concerning manuscript page order and the form of headings, references, tables, and figures. Please avoid almost all abbreviations and the use of footnotes for substantive information. Papers must be composed in 12-point type size. The entire text should be double-spaced (at least 24 point spacing) with 1-inch margins all around. Figures and illustrations must be of professional presentation quality. Papers should include an abstract of 125 words.
Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts electronically. The preferred format is an Adobe PDF file included as an email attachment, although other formats are possible. Paper submissions should be in quadruplicate. If authors wish their papers to be reviewed blind, three of the four paper copies (or an additional electronic version) should have information identifying the authors and their affiliations removed. For paper submissions, an email message should be sent listing the title of the manuscript, the authors, and the abstract. Each submission should be accompanied by a cover letter stating: a) that the manuscript is not and will not be under concurrent consideration by another publication; b) that all co-authors have read and approved of the submission; and c) that the treatment of participants complies with relevant ethical standards.
Submissions will be acknowledge by email upon receipt. Original manuscripts and all correspondence should be directed to:
