About the journal
The Journal of Sustainable Tourism aims to advance critical understanding of the relationships between tourism and sustainable development. The journal publishes theoretical, conceptual and empirical research that explores one or more of the economic, social, cultural, political, organisational or environmental aspects of the subject. Contributions are from all disciplinary perspectives, with inter-disciplinary work being especially welcome. Holistic and integrative work is encouraged. All geographical areas are included, as are all forms of tourism, both mass and niche market. The journal encourages critical views, as well as new ideas and approaches in relation to the theory and practice linking tourism and sustainability.
Instructions to Authors
Please also refer to the Web page of the journal concerned for any instructions specific to that journal.
The paper must not be under consideration by other journals or have been previously published.
It should be your own original work and any material for which you do not own copyright should be acknowledged in the text. It is the author's responsibility to clear permission for copyright material.
It should not contain any material which is libellous, illegal or infringes anyone's copyright or other rights.
Papers should not normally exceed 7000 words.
When submitting your paper you will be asked to provide an abstract of not more than 200 words.
The papers are blind refereed, so any textual references which would identify the authors to the referees must be avoided (any omitted material can be included later if the paper is accepted).
Footnotes should be avoided. Essential notes should be numbered in the text and grouped together at the end of the article.
Tables and Figures
Tables should be numbered and placed in the correct place if possible.
No additional artwork or redrawing will be done by us. All journals are printed in black and white, so it is normally better to use shading or hatching rather than tints if at all possible. EPS or TIFF are the preferred formats for figures if they are not included within the text.
The resolution is an important consideration, as this needs to be at least 300dpi for printing purposes. The default resolution in many programs is 72dpi and the default format is JPEG, but although these give acceptable results when viewed on a computer screen, they are rarely good enought when transferred to the printed page.
References Please check the following points particularly carefully when submitting manuscripts:
Are all the references in the reference list cited in the text?
Do all the citations in the text appear in the reference list?
Do the dates in the text and the reference list correspond?
Do the spellings of authors' names in the text and reference list correspond and do all authors have the correct initials?
Are journal references complete with volume and page numbers?
Are references to books complete with place of publication and the name of the publisher?
For examples of reference style please refer to our journals - online versions can be viewed at http://www.multilingual-matters.net/
