Firmly established as the premier journal of Afro-American critical scholarship, we have a readership of 60,000 of which 70-80% are black, either college or college-oriented, with an average age of 35 years. We thus feel that we are more than adequately able to five you the concentrated black and minority market that you are seeking. Our journal is widely read by teachers, professionals, and intellectuals and is also required reading for many courses with Afro-American and Ethnic Studies. Among our services to readers and publishers, THE BLACK SCHOLAR publishes an annual book supplement titled Black Books Round-up. The Roundup includes listings from major trade publishing houses and university presses of their books by black authors or of black interests. In addition, The BLACK SCHOLAR has provided a similar supplement, the University Press Expo, which provides university presses a showcase for their titles. These marketing services are supported by our Black Books Received, a quarterly listing of newly published books. These programs have established THE BLACK SCHOLAR as the ideal medium for publishers reaching out to the Afro-American market. THE BLACK SCHOLAR provides a classified advertising service for those of you who are particularly concerned that minority persons and women are made aware of your job vacancies.
