About the journal
Description:

Ranked 15th out of 24 in Public Administration in the 2003 Journal Citation Reports

Administration & Society advances your understanding of public and human service organizations, their administrative processes and their effects on society.

Today's Topics and Problems...

For over thirty-five years, Administration & Society has served as a leading forum for the exchange of ideas and information on current topic, research questions, and philosophical dilemmas of interest to academics in public administration and related disciplines. And, now that Administration & Society is bimonthly, you can get even more of the up-to-date scholarship you need to stay ahead of your field.

In-Depth Analyses...

Empirical research reports and theoretical articles provide thoughtful and significant analyses of administrative issues at the federal, state and local levels. Written by authors from a variety of fields, articles address such concerns as:

  • forces - political, social, economic, psychological - that shape administrative goals and performance processes by which policies are formulated, implemented and changed
  • relationships between groups and organizations
  • theory and practice of bureaucratic politics
  • evaluation of the effects of policies on society

International and Interdisciplinary¡

Each issue of Administration & Society not only brings you the latest thinking in public administration as it occurs, but you will be the first to be aware of new research as it develops.

Instructions to Authors
Manuscript Submission Guidelines:

Manuscripts should be submitted to Gary L. Wamsley, Editor, Administration & Society, Center for Public Administration and Policy, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blackburg, VA 24061. Four (4) copies are required. A copy of the final revised manuscript saved on an IBM-compatible disk should be included with the final revised hard copy. Submission of a manuscript implies commitment to publish in the journal. Authors submitting manuscripts to the journal should not simultaneously submit them to another journal, nor should manuscripts have been published elsewhere in substantially similar form or with substantially similar content. Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the American Psychological Association (APA) guidelines (4th ed.). Articles should not exceed 40 typewritten, double- spaced pages. Tables, charts, notes, and references must all be on separate pages, also completely double-spaced. Research notes should not exceed 15 typewritten double-spaced pages. A double-spaced abstract of approximately 100 words as well as a double-spaced brief biographical paragraph describing each author's affiliation, research interest, and recent publications should accompany the manuscript. Because the manuscripts are sent out anonymously for editorial evaluation, the author's name, affiliation, and biographical paragraph should appear on a separate cover page. In addition, to help ensure anonymity in the review process, three (3) of the four (4) copies should have all references to the author(s) left blank. This includes any references in the manuscript, the notes, the title, and reference sections.
