Instructions for authors
Ciência e Técnica Vitivinícola (Journal of Viticulture and Enology) is an international journal that publishes original articles, research notes and review articles, written in Portuguese or in English, on the various fields of the science and technology of vine and wine: Viticulture, Enology and Vitivinicultural economy.
General format
The manuscript should be presented at A4 format with text margins of 2.5 cm (upper, lower, right and left), with numbered pages and lines continuously numbered.
Manuscript structure
The content of manuscript should be arranged as follows: Front page; Introduction; Material and methods; Results and discussion (in a single section); Conclusions; Acknowledgements; References; Tables; Figures. The heading of each section should be written in capital letter, size 10, bold, centered and with spacing of 6 points before and after.
Front page
The first page should include:
- Title, in the language of the main text, in capital letter (size 12, bold, centered, spacing 1.5), followed by its translation in the second language*, in capital letter (size 10, bold, centered, spacing 1.5);
- Names of the authors, in lower-case letter except the initial (size 10, bold, centered, spacing 1.5);
- Affiliation (size 8, justified, spacing 1.5), indicated by a lower-case superscript letter immediately after the author's name and in front of the appropriate address;
- Corresponding author, clearly identified (marked by an asterisk), ensuring that e-mail address is provided.
- Summary, written in Portuguese and in English*, the first in the language of the main text (size 8, justified, single spacing);
- Key–words, a maximum of five, in both languages* (size 8, justified, single spacing).
Main text
Processed in “Times New Roman”, size 10, normal style, justified, single spacing and paragraph spacing of 6 points after.
Tables and figures
Tables should be numbered in Roman and the word “Table” written in capital letter, bold, size 10; heading and footnote should be written in both languages*, centered, size 8. Reference in the text should be made with “Table“.
Figures should be numbered in Arabic numerals and the word “Figure” written in lower-case letter, bold, size 8; caption should be written in both languages*, centered, size 8. Reference in the text should be made with “Figure”. Size the figures close to the desired dimensions of the published version or size that enables reduction compatible with the format of articles. Explain all symbols and abbreviations used.
The tables, followed by the figures, must be presented after the text. Each table or figure must be presented on a separate page and in an editable format.
References
Citation in text
Ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa). All citations in the text should refer to: single author - the author's last name (without initials) and the year of publication; two authors - both authors' last names (without initials) and the year of publication; three or more authors - first author's last name followed by et al. and the year of publication. Groups of references should be organized firstly in ascending chronological order, and then alphabetically, if necessary.
Reference list
References should be listed by authors in alphabetical order and in ascending chronological order if necessary (size 8, single spacing and spacing between paragraph of 6 points after). Journal titles should be abbreviated.

Recomendações aos autores
A Ciência e Técnica Vitivinícola (Journal of Viticulture and Enology) é uma revista internacional que publica artigos originais, notas técnicas e revisões bibliográficas, redigidos em português ou em inglês, nos diferentes domínios da ciência e da tecnologia da vinha e do vinho: Viticultura, Enologia e Economia Vitivinícola.
Formatação geral
O manuscrito deverá ser apresentado em formato A4, com marginalização das páginas de 2,5 cm (superior, inferior, direita e esquerda), com páginas numeradas e linhas numeradas em contínuo.
Estrutura do manuscrito
O manuscrito deverá ser redigido segundo o seguinte plano: Página inicial; Introdução; Material e métodos; Resultados e discussão (em uma única secção); Conclusões; Agradecimentos; Referências; Quadros; Figuras. O título de cada secção deverá ser redigido em maiúsculas, tamanho 10, negrito, centrado e com espaçamento de 6 pontos antes e depois.
Página inicial
A primeira página deverá incluir:
- Título, na língua usada no texto principal, em maiúsculas (tamanho 12, negrito, centrado, espaçamento 1.5), seguido pela sua tradução na outra língua*, em maiúsculas (tamanho 10, negrito, centrado, espaçamento 1.5);
- Nome dos autores, em minúsculas exceto as primeiras letras (tamanho 10, negrito, centrado, espaçamento 1.5);
- Afiliação (tamanho 8, justificado, espaçamento 1.5), referenciada com letra minúscula sobrescrita imediatamente após o nome do autor e antecedendo o endereço correspondente.
- Autor correspondente, claramente identificado, através de um asterisco, indicando o seu e-mail;
- Resumos, redigidos em português* e em inglês, sendo o primeiro na língua usada no texto principal (tamanho 8, justificado, espaçamento simples);
- Palavras–chave, não mais do que cinco, nas duas línguas* (tamanho 8, justificado, espaçamento simples).
Texto
O texto deverá ser processado em “Times New Roman”, tamanho 10, estilo normal, justificado, com espaçamento de entrelinha simples e espaçamento de parágrafo de 6 pontos depois.
Quadros e figuras
Os quadros deverão ser numerados em romano, sendo a palavra “Quadro” escrita em maiúsculas, negrito, tamanho 10; título e legenda centrados, nas duas línguas*, tamanho 8. A referência no texto deverá ser feita com “Quadro”.
As figuras deverão ser numeradas em árabe, sendo a palavra “Figura” escrita em minúsculas, negrito, tamanho 8; título centrado, nas duas línguas*, tamanho 8. A referência no texto deverá ser feita com “Figura”. As figuras deverão ser fornecidas no estado definitivo ou em tamanho que permita a redução compatível com o formato dos artigos. Todos os símbolos e abreviaturas deverão ser descodificados.
Os quadros, seguidos pelas figuras, devem ser apresentados no final do texto. Cada quadro ou figura deve ser apresentado numa página separada e em formato editável.
Referências
Citação no texto
Cada referência citada no texto deverá constar na lista de referências e vice-versa. A citação no texto deverá obedecer às seguintes regras: apenas um autor – apelido (sem iniciais) e ano de publicação; dois autores – apelidos (sem iniciais) e ano de publicação; três ou mais autores - apelido do primeiro autor seguido por et al. Um grupo de citações deverá ser organizado por ordem cronológica ascendente e depois por ordem alfabética, se necessário.
Lista de referências
Redigida em tamanho 8, espaçamento simples e espaçamento entre referência de 6 pontos depois.
As referências deverão ser organizadas por ordem alfabética dos nomes dos autores e depois por ordem cronológica ascendente, se necessário. Os títulos das revistas devem ser abreviados.
