Open Access - free for readers, with article processing charges (APC) paid by authors or their institutions. High visibility: Indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) - Web of Science from Vol. 6 (2016), EMBASE (Elsevier) and Scopus. Citations available in PubMed, full-text archived in PubMed Central. CiteScore 2017 (Scopus): 3.41, which equals rank 43/209 (Q2) in the category 'Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism', 104/402 (Q2) in 'Biochemistry' and 122/366 (Q3) in 'Molecular Biology'. Rapid publication: manuscripts are peer-reviewed and a first decision provided to authors approximately 16.8 days after submission; acceptance to publication is undertaken in 3.5 days (median values for papers published in this journal in the second half of 2018). Aims Metabolites (ISSN 2218-1989) is an international, peer-reviewed open access journal of metabolism and metabolomics. Metabolites publishes original research articles and review articles in all molecular aspects of metabolism relevant to the fields of metabolomics, metabolic biochemistry, computational and systems biology, biotechnology and medicine, with a particular focus on the biological roles of metabolites and small molecule biomarkers. Metabolites encourages scientists to publish their experimental and theoretical results in as much detail as possible. Therefore, there is no restriction on article length. Sufficient experimental details must be provided to enable the results to be accurately reproduced. Electronic material representing additional figures, materials and methods explanation, or supporting results and evidence can be submitted with the main manuscript as supplementary material.
