Journal of Ichthyology is an international peer-reviewed journal published in collaboration with the Russian Academy of Sciences. It covers original studies in fish taxonomy, evolution, molecular biology, morphology, species diversity, zoological geography, genetics, physiology, ecology, behavior, reproduction, embryology, invasions, and protection. The problems of applied ichthyology are also covered: fishery biology, aquatic toxicology, aquiculture, fishery management, and others. The journal welcomes manuscripts from all countries in the English or Russian language.

Instructions to Authors
Submission of a manuscript to the Journal of Ichthyology implies the following:
- that the work described has not been published before;
- that it is not under consideration for publication anywhere else;
- that the paper has not been previously rejected by the Journal of Ichthyology;
- that its publication has been approved by all co-authors;
- that its publication has been approved by the responsible authorities – tacitly or explicitly – at the institute where the work has been carried out.
