About the journal
Aims and scope
2016 Impact Factor: 1.451 Ranking: 26/44 in Engineering, Industrial; 43/83 in Operations Research & Management Science 2016 5-Year Impact Factor: 1.800 ©2017 Clarivate Analytics, 2017 release of the Journal Citation Reports® As the flagship journal of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, IISE Transactions publishes original high-quality papers on a wide range of topics of interest to industrial engineers who want to remain current with the state-of-the-art technologies. The refereed journal aims to foster the engineering community by publishing papers with a strong methodological focus motivated by real problems that impact engineering practice and research. Published monthly, the journal is composed of four focus issues: Design and Manufacturing, Operations Engineering and Analytics, Quality and Reliability Engineering, and Scheduling and Logistics.
IISE Transactions encourages research motivated by critical and complex engineering problems that arise in a wide variety of domains including service, public policy, health care, security, biotechnology, transportation, and others. The journal publishes papers that integrate industrial engineering with other disciplines including statistics, other engineering disciplines, computer science, biological science, and operations research. Articles covering new methodologies and state-of-the-art surveys are included in the journal.
All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editor, and, if found suitable for further consideration, to peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees. All submission is online via ScholarOne Manuscripts.

Instructions to Authors
General Submission Guidlines:
· Format. Keep articles as brief as possible. The maximum length is 30 pages. Use 11 point font, 1 inch margins, and double-spacing for the manuscript including references, tables, figures and appendices. Do not use footnotes.
· For LaTex, we recommend the use of a free, basic LaTex template found at https://www.sharelatex.com/templates/journals/. Authors are encouraged to use an article template for a double-spaced, single column format and must submit all sty, bib files, etc. along with a corresponding PDF.
· Abstract/Keywords. Include an abstract of 200 words maximum. Generally abstracts do not contain mathematical notation or literature citations. Please provide up to 10 keywords.
· References. List references alphabetically by author in a reference section at the end of the article. Some samples of the correct style follow: Journal: Griffin, R. M., Scherrer, C. R., and Swann, J. L. (2008) Optimization of community health center locations and service offerings with statistical need estimation. IISE Transactions, 40, 880-892. Book: Barlow, R. E. and Proschan, F. (1965) Mathematical Theory of Reliability, Wiley, New York, NY. Contribution to a Book:Keskinocak, P. and Tayur, S. (2004) Due-date management policies, in Handbook of Quantitative Supply Chain Analysis: Modeling in the E-Business Era, Sinchi-Levi, D., Wu, D. and Shen Z. M. (eds) Kluwer, Norwell, MA, pp. 485-553.
· Mathematical expressions. Number expressions that are referred to in the text. Use consecutive Arabic numerals in parenthesis, on the same line, flush right.
· Grammar/Spelling. Please follow U.S. English spelling and grammar conventions.
· Figures and Tables. Provide a caption for every Figure and Table and refer to each in the text. Number Figures consecutively and number Tables consecutively using Arabic numerals. Figures should be of good resolution with digital image files of 300 dpi or higher. Figures submitted in color will appear in color in the online version of the article at no additional cost to the author. The journal does not print color figures. Please ensure that color figures submitted for publication will render clearly in a black & white version for print, and that the text and figure legends do not make references to color in the figure (e.g., “the blue line”). Use font sizes that are readable even after figures or tables are photo-reduced.
· Page Proofs. For accepted papers, the designated author will receive the page proofs via email and is responsible for checking and approving the manuscript on behalf of all coauthors. This step is for corrections, not for rewriting material.
· IISE Transactions Best Paper Awards. For each Focused Issue, all published papers will be automatically considered for a Best Paper Award covering the period July 1 to June 30.
· Accepted Manuscript Online (AMO). Manuscripts submitted to the Journal are eligible for rapid online posting if a valid copyright form is received and nothing is missing from the paper. The original manuscript will be available on Taylor & Francis Online in a section on the Journal’s page entitled “Forthcoming Articles.” Posted papers will be clearly labeled as the “Accepted, Uncorrected Manuscript” versions and will include DOI numbers so that papers can be cited and referenced. Authors will also receive notification from Taylor & Francis when the manuscript is posted, when the typeset proofs are available, and once again when the final version is posted. Papers in this section will be removed once the edited and final typeset version is posted online.
Complimentary Policy and Reprints. Authors for whom we receive a valid email address will be provided an opportunity to purchase reprints of individual articles, or copies of the complete print issue. These authors will also be given complimentary access to their final article on Taylor & Francis Online.
