About the journal
Published by the European Mathematical Society with the support of the Portuguese Science Foundation.
Since its foundation in 1937, Portugaliae Mathematica has aimed at publishing high-level research articles in all branches of mathematics. With great efforts by its founders, the journal was able to publish articles by some of the best mathematicians of the time. In 2001 a New Series of Portugaliae Mathematica was started, reaffirming the purpose of maintaining a high-level research journal in mathematics with a wide range scope.
Portugaliae Mathematica is covered in: Mathematical Reviews (MR), Current Mathematical Publications (CMP), MathSciNet, Zentralblatt für Mathematik, Zentralblatt MATH Database, Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), CompuMath Citation Index (CMCI), Current Contents/Physical, Chemical & Earth Sciences (CC/PC&ES), ISI Alerting Services, Journal Citation Reports/Science Edition, Web of Science.
Portugaliae Mathematica endorses the Best Current Practices for Journals approved by the International Mathematical Union.
Instructions to Authors
All papers must be submitted electronically using http://pm.spm.pt. They will need to furnish the following information:
- Name of corresponding author together with email and mailing address
- Title of paper
- Number of pages
- PDF version of the paper
- The name of an Editor or Associate Editor (see the Editorial Board) who is an expert in the field (optional).
In case you have any problems with the electronic submission please contact lnv@mat.uc.pt.
Submission of a manuscript implies that the work described has not been published before and that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts will only be evaluated if written in consistent and correct language.
The PM class file for LaTeX2e
To prepare your article, use the journal’s prepared LaTeX document class file PM.cls (right-click the link and select ‘save link target as’ to download) and follow the sample file: example.tex, example.dvi, example.pdf.
Please prepare graphical items for inclusion in your article as eps (encapsulated PostScript) files and include them by using the graphicx package.
Footnotes should be avoided.
References should be listed at the end of the manuscript in the form: author(s), title of paper, journal title (abbreviated in accordance with Mathematical Reviews), volume number, year of publication in parentheses, and page numbers. For books, indicate also the publisher. The reference list should be arranged in alphabetical order. Items not cited in the text should not appear in the list.
Please use the 2010 MSC Codes when submitting your paper and provide key words.
Copyright and Offprints
It is a condition of publication in the Journal that authors assign copyright to the European Mathematical Society. This ensures that requests from third parties to reproduce articles are handled efficiently and consistently and will also allow the article to be as widely disseminated as possible. In assigning copyright, authors may use their own material in other, non-commercial publications provided that the Journal is properly acknowledged as the original place of publication.
Authors of papers published in the Journal will be entitled to 30 free offprints, to be shared between authors of joint papers. Extra copies of offprints may be purchased if ordered on the form sent to the corresponding author with the proofs.
