About the journal
The aim of the journal is to publish high quality mathematical research papers in various fields. A special emphasis is given to articles on
Differential equations in a broad sense
Numerical analysis
Rings and algebras
Combinatorics
Optimization theory.
Instructions to Authors
Manuscript submission
Manuscript should be submitted electronically both to the Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Miklós Rontó, and to the member of the Editorial Board Dr. Sándor Fegyverneki. Papers should be typeset in AMS-LaTeX (see the guidelines for preparation of electronic manuscripts). The AMS-LaTeX source file of the manuscript should be accompanied by the corresponding PDF file that matches exactly the source text.
Manuscripts should be in English.
Conditions of publication
Submission of a paper to Miskolc Mathematical Notes implies that it has not been published, nor is being considered for publication elsewhere, and that a permission for publication, if needed, has already been obtained from appropriate sources. All the manuscripts should be in the grammatically correct English. It is the condition of publication that a manuscript may be edited for readability and for compliance with the journal style. Galley proofs are sent in exceptional cases only.
Electronic manuscripts
The technical requirements specified below will be satisfied automatically if you use our sample AMS-LaTeX paper mmnsample.tex as a template and prepare your bibliography by using bibTeX.

Article Style
Please prepare your manuscripts in AMS-LaTeX by using the standard AMS Article Style (amsart.cls). The complete manual for this style developed by the American Mathematical Society can be found here. For your convenience, we have produced a simple sample file.
Please avoid defining your custom TeX/LaTeX commands.
Font and text area size
Please select 11pt as the main font size:
\documentclass[11pt]{amsart}
The text area in the electronic manuscript should be 190mm long and 130mm wide. To specify this, please use the command
\usepackage[height=190mm,width=130mm]{geometry}
in the preamble of your file.
Abstract, keywords, etc
Please provide the 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification code(s), several keywords releavant to your paper, and a short abstract, e. g.,
Information about the authors
For each of the auhors, specify the complete electronic and postal addresses by using the appropriate AMS Article Style style tags, e.g.,
\author{John Walker}
\address{Some University\\ Some Department\\ 12 Unknown St.\\ 12345
City\\ Country}
\curraddr{Other Institution\\ Some Other Department\\ P. O. Box 0002 \\ 12347
City\\ Other Country}
\email{nobody@nowhere}
\author{R. Jel\'inek}
\address{Another University\\ Some Department\\ 12 Unknown St.\\ 12345
City\\ Country}
\curraddr{Other Institution\\ Some Other Department\\ P. O. Box 0002 \\ 12347
City\\ Other Country}
\email{somebody@somewhere}
even if some of them are from one and the same institution.
Please consult the Instructions for Preparation of Papers and Monographs in AMS-LaTeX (pp. 1-6) for more details on the style.
Theorem-like environments
Please organise all your theorems, lemmata, definitions, remarks, etc, into the appropriate LaTeX environments, e. g.,
\begin{theorem}\label{thm:1}
Assume that ...
\end{theorem}
\begin{proof}
.
\end{proof}
We recommend you to use this style of definitions:
\theoremstyle{plain}
\newtheorem{theorem}{Theorem}
\newtheorem{lemma}{Lemma}
\newtheorem{corollary}{Corollary}
\newtheorem{proposition}{Proposition}
\newtheorem*{bechtheorem}{Becher's Theorem}
\theoremstyle{definition}
\newtheorem{definition}{Definition}
\theoremstyle{remark}
\newtheorem{remark}{Remark}
\newtheorem{example}{Example}
Preparation of the bibliography
To typeset the bibliography, the use of bibTeX is strongly encouraged. In case you prepare the bibliography by editing the reference fields in your
\begin{thebibliography}{99}
\bibitem{...} ...
\bibitem{...} ...
.
\end{thebibliography}
environment manually, , which is deprecated, please arrange them alphabetically and make them match the style of the journal, e. g.,
\bibitem{bech02} J. Becher, R. Martin, and J. Walker,
``Some paper title without capitalisation,' {\em Some Math. J.},
vol. 22, No.~3, pp. 234--245, 2007.
or
\bibitem{jel03} R. Jel\'inek, {\it Capitalised Monograph Title},
London: Some Publisher, 2003.
Figures
Please save your figures as Encapsulated PostScript (EPS). Only black-and-white figures are allowed.
The figures should preferably be included by using the standard graphics / graphicx packages; for this purpose, put
\usepackage{graphicx}
in the preamble of your file. To iclude graphical files into your document, say, e. g.,
\begin{figure}[htbp]
\centering
\includegraphics{somefile.eps}
\caption{Some figure caption.}
\label{fig:1}
\end{figure}
somewhere near the supposed place of inclusion of a picture in your file, or
\begin{figure}[htbp]
\centering
\includegraphics[height=80mm,keepaspectratio]{somefile.eps}
\caption{Some figure caption.}
\label{fig:1}
\end{figure}
if you need some scaling. See the graphicx package documentation for the details.
A note for Scientific Word/Workplace users
In case you use Windows and Scientific Word/Workplace, please make sure that you save your LaTeX manuscript as the so-called Portable LaTeX. The final manuscript should not contain any non-standard macros (in particular, no “\input tcilatex.tex” statement).
If you are not friendly with LaTeX and would like to use a WYSIWYG software to typeset your manuscript, we recommend you to use LyX, the high-quality open source document processor included in all the major Linux distributions (e. g., Debian/GNU Linux, Red Hat Linux, etc.).
We have produced a sample file, mmnsample.lyx, for easy preparation of a manuscript in LyX.
Downloadable files
This is yet another place where you can download the files which will help in preparing a manuscript for submission.
