About the journal

Studies in Informatics and Control (SIC) is a quarterly publication for all those involved in the field of Information Technology. SIC is published by the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics, ICI Bucharest and has an editorial board whose members referee submissions. Their decisions are based upon the relevance, clarity, and value of the articles submitted.
CORE SUBJECTS
Studies in Informatics and Control covers current topics relating to innovative research and practice in Information Technology: integration of IT with control; IT use in control and management systems; advanced automatic control; application of IT in socio-economic systems and manufacturing processes.
PUBLISHING DETAILS
The journal has been published both in print and online by the Romanian Institute for R&D in Informatics, ICI Bucharest under the auspices of the Romanian Academy. It has been published continuously since 1992 and has a worldwide circulation. SIC reviews papers within approximately three months of submission. Every manuscript is reviewed by at least two anonymous referees and accepted articles are published upon receiving the final versions. Publishing intervals would exceptionally be longer than three months.
INDEXING AND ABSTRACTING
SIC is indexed and/or abstracted by several indexing and abstracting services in Information Systems Applications, Computer-based Control, Electrical Engineering, Database Management, etc. It has been included within the coverage of Inspec database (since 1993), Doaj ( since 1996), Google Scholar ( since 2006) and Philadelphia-based Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) / Thomson Scientific- SCIEx (since 2008).
CONTENTS REMARKS
The journal welcomes original, applied and previously-unpublished papers that report on activities that have successfully connected applied research with practical application. In addition to full-length articles, the journal also accepts book reviews, special issues and scientific events.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The articles published in Studies in Informatics and Control are of interest both to practicing information technology professionals and to university and industry researchers.
Instructions to Authors
SIC welcomes original contributions on all aspects of research and practice in IT. Authors should not submit to SIC material that is under consideration elsewhere. Papers should preferably not exceed 15 standard typewritten pages. However, while concision improves chances of publication, serious consideration will be given to articles in which the nature and quality of the content justify greater length. Articles should be sent if possible in disk form, accompanied by two printouts and a cover letter signed by the (principal) author to the following address: National Institute for R&D in Informatics, Publishing Department, 8-10 Averescu Blvd., Bucharest, 011455, Romania.
Typesetting a SIC document using Word. Please use the following sample file to correctly typeset a submission to Studies in Informatics and Control Journal.
We always acknowledge receipt of contributions submitted to us. After a preliminary triage to eliminate submissions that are unsuitable for the SIC journal, the remaining science-based papers, will enter a review process which typically takes 4-6 weeks from the time we acknowledge the receipt of the paper. Following the confirmation to the corresponding author of acceptance for publication of the submitted article (presumably sent as a hard copy), a quick editing and printing work would be possible if agreed to provide a soft copy, on diskette or via e-mail, under Windows (Microsoft Word 2003).
It is a condition of publication in SIC that authors grant an exclusive licence to the Journal, which is operated on the Journal's behalf by the Publisher, by completing a copyright licence form. This ensures that requests from third parties to reproduce articles are handled efficiently and consistently and will also allow the article to be as widely disseminated as possible. When an article is published, a PDF of the final version is emailed to the corresponding author. It is the author's responsibility to obtain permission to reproduce verbal or visual material from copyright sources.
