About the journal

                      

The Iranian Journal of Veterinary Research (IJVR), published quarterly in 4 issues. Aims at improving and expanding knowledge in all veterinary fields inside and outside the country to make known the research works of Iranian scholars to international veterinary science communities. The research papers and reports on the studies in different branches of veterinary science are published in the journal after being evaluated by expert reviewers.

Instructions to Authors
Objective of the Journal
 
   The Iranian Journal of Veterinary Research (IJVR), published quarterly in 4 issues. Aims at improving and expanding knowledge in all veterinary fields inside and outside the country to make known the research works of Iranian scholars to international veterinary science communities. The research papers and reports on the studies in different branches of veterinary science are published in the journal after being evaluated by expert reviewers.
 
 Submission policy
 The honorable authors are required to take into consideration the following key points before submitting their papers:
1- Article should be original and not already published in or sent to any local or international journals.
2-   Article should be in English language and should include summary in both English and Persian languages.
3-   Three copies of the article together with a covering letter, the front page including name(s), title of the paper, affiliation of the author(s), postal and (if available) e-mail address should be provided.
4-   The article should be typed double spaced on an A4 paper with 2.5cm margins, and in 12-point times Roman font (Microsoft word 2000).
5-  Tables, figures and all illustrations in general should be reduced to as few numbers as possible in four sets.
6-   Illustrations should be provided in black ink on 15x 10 gloss papers. As for pictures, they should be developed in black and white style also on 15x10 gloss papers.
7-   All illustrations should be numbered in the order of their appearance or reference in the text and their legends should be typed on a separate page in the same mentioned.
8- Tables should be precise and complementary to the text and must fit the size of the journal.
9-   All illustrations should be provided in the English language.
10- Key words should be defined in 3-5 words and must immediately follow the summary.
11- Articles will be published with respect to the date they received and evaluated by the editorial board.
12- All rights are reserved. No part of this publication may be reproduced or copied in any other periodicals without clear reference citation.
13- The editorial board may accept, reject, edit, make modifications or summarize the article in the form of a short article or case report.
14- The authors themselves are responsible for the authenticity of their article.
15- Animal welfare must be observed in the research studies.
16- The article, disk, graphs, figures and tables received will not be sent back to their authors.
 
Preparing research article
 
   The article should include title, name(s) of the author(s), summary, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, acknowledgments, if any and list of references in at most 15 pages. Details as to how to prepare a research article are as follow:
 
Front page (Page 1)
 
   Includes the informative but brief title of the article, name(s) of the author(s), affiliation and mailing addresses (postal, e­mail). The general format of the front page is presented below:

Summary (Page 2)
  Should be precise and informative including purpose, methods, and results of the study in not more than 150 words.
 
 
Introduction (Page 3)
  Includes a brief review of literature and the research hypothesis.
 
Materials and Methods
 
  Includes the number, kinds and characteristics of the samples (animals) under study, and instruments. In case any further specifics instruments and tool are used, the manufacturers ' particulars must be cited in detail. The materials and methods section, and especially the subsections of results must be written in detail so as to facilitate further replication of the study.
 
Results
  Should be presented in a logical, systematic, and useful manner in the form of a text, tables, or illustrations. The contents of each table must not be repeated in the text.
 
Discussion
  In this section the results are analyzed and discussed, comparisons are made with other relevant studies, and the findings are interpreted so as to improve the knowledge in the field. 
 
Acknowledgement
  Here the author(s) express their gratitude the sponsor of the project or to other individuals who contributed to the research in one way or another.
 
 References
  Should include all the books, articles and periodicals that were cited as references in the study. The reference section must be written on the basis of the standard manuals like APA as the commonly used style. 
 
Citing references within the text
  If the article is written by one author, it is cited as (Shirazi, 2003) in the text. If it is written by two or more authors, it will be cited as (Shirazi and Tehrani, 2003) and (Shirazi et al., 2003) respectively.
Example of English reference in the reference section is as follow:
Ghazi, SR and Gholami, S (1994). Allometric growth of the spinal cord in relation to the vertebral column during prenatal and postnatal life in sheep (Ovis aries). J. Anat., 185: 427-431.

 Review articles
  Review articles are usually written by scholars and experts in the field who have published at least 5 research papers on the subject in native and/or international journals. In review articles, the results of published researches are closely evaluated, the strong and weak points are stated, and suggestions for further improvement may be made.
 
Short papers and scientific reports
  These types of articles also include the title page, summary (including the summary in the Persian language), introduction, materials and methods,  results, discussion and reference section in at most 3 pages of the journal.
