About the journal
The Journal of Thermal Science and Technology (JTST) is a new electronic technical journal jointly edited and published by the Thermal Engineering Division of JSME and the Heat Transfer Society of Japan (HTSJ). The objective of JTST is to spread internationally knowledge generated through excellent research and state-of-the-art technology development in the field of thermal engineering. JTST takes over the fields of thermal engineering and heat transfer from the JSME International Journal, Series B that has been discontinued since January, 2007 and also the former Thermal Science and Engineering by HTSJ that has recently changed to a volume bound with the Journal of the Heat Transfer Society of Japan consisting mainly of Japanese articles. JTST covers a variety of fields in thermal engineering including heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics, combustion, bio-heat transfer, micro- and macro-scale transport phenomena and practical thermal problems in industrial applications.
Since the editorial and review systems are web-based, the period of time from submission to publication will be greatly cut down. Individual papers will appear on the J-STAGE (http://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/browse/-char/ja) as soon as the review process is completed. Everyone can subscribe to JTST free of charge through the above website.
On behalf of the editorial board, I would like to invite all researchers and engineers in the field of thermal engineering to contribute their original papers to JTST. It is our pleasure if many contributors and readers make use of JTST as a stage for exchange of up-to-date knowledge and information. JTST is always open to all the world.

Instructions to Authors
The Journal of Thermal Science and Technology (referred to below as “Journal”) is an electronic journal edited and managed jointly by the Thermal Engineering Division of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers and The Heat Transfer Society of Japan, and issued by Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers for the global dissemination of academic and technological information on mechanical engineering and industries.
1. Paper for submission
Papers for submission to the Journal should be original papers of the authors and unpublished in general publicly disseminated (distributed or sold) publications.

･Translated Paper (Those translated from Transactions of JSME originally written in Japanese)
･Short Paper
2. Qualifications of submitting authors
Even non-members of the society may submit papers.
3. Copyright
As a rule, copyright on papers published in the Journal belongs to the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.
4. Specified number of pages
The number of pages for one paper shall be as follows:
Original papers should not be more than 16 pages
Short papers should not be more than 8 pages
Unless especially allowed by the Editorial Board, papers exceeding 16 pages are not allowed.
5. Preparation and submission of papers
As a rule, papers for submission should be prepared using the specified template and submitted through the submission and review system of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.
6. Language
The language of the papers for submission shall be English.
7. Units
The units used in the papers should be SI units.
8. Acceptance
The acceptance or rejection of the paper submitted shall be decided by the Editorial Board.
9. Responsibility over content
The responsibility over the content of papers published in the Journal shall rest fully on the authors.
10. Date of receipt
The date of receipt of papers submitted shall be the date when the papers arrive at the office of the Society. However, when papers sent back to the authors for addition or revisions are not returned with the addition or revisions within two months after the inquiry date from the Society, the original date of receipt becomes invalid.
11. Priority
Priority of the paper shall take effect on the date of receipt of the paper and shall be clearly stated in the Journal.
12. Date of publication
The paper shall be published on a timely basis after being voted for publication with the paper publication date indicated in the table of contents.
13. Publication fees
Authors shall pay publication fees for papers published in the Journal. Fees are determined separately.
