About the journal
AStA Advances in Statistical Analysis has been accepted for Science Citation Index Expanded and will first be listed with an Impact Factor in the 2009 Journal Citation Reports (JCR), released in June 2010.
AStA - Advances in Statistical Analysis, a journal of the German Statistical Society, is published quarterly and presents original contributions on statistical methods and applications and review articles.
AStA - Advances in Statistical Analysis has three designated sections:
- Statistical Applications:
The Statistical Application section provides a forum for innovative use of statistical modeling and analysis techniques in a wide range of application areas. Traditionally, economic and social science are at home at AStA, but submissions with other fields of application such as technology, engineering or ecology are also strongly encouraged.
- Statistical Methodology:
The Statistical Methodology section publishes original articles on statistical theory and methodological developments. The contributions should provide novel material. Articles on probability or formal methods are welcome if they take a statistical or practical problem as a starting point.
- Statistical Reviews:
The Statistical Review section welcomes review articles in the various fields of statistics, including statistical computing and software, respectively. Attention is also given to review papers in areas of current and ongoing research. Regularly, book reviews are published in this section.
Authors submitting a manuscript should indicate for which section their work is intended.
AStA - Advances in Statistical Analysis offers researchers in current and emerging fields a forum to introduce, disseminate and promote new ideas in statistics and to stimulate the active discussion in the research field. This also includes exciting new methodological developments in traditional areas.
The journal pursues a quick turn-around of submissions, which makes AStA attractive for authors to have their research and new results being published on time.

Manuscript Submission
Submission of a manuscript implies: that the work described has not been published before; that it is not under consideration for publication anywhere else; that its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities – tacitly or explicitly – at the institute where the work has been carried out. The publisher will not be held legally responsible should there be any claims for compensation.
Permissions
Authors wishing to include figures, tables, or text passages that have already been published elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner(s) for both the print and online format and to include evidence that such permission has been granted when submitting their papers. Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate from the authors.
Online Submission
Authors should submit their manuscripts online. Electronic submission substantially reduces the editorial processing and reviewing times and shortens overall publication times. Please follow the hyperlink “Submit online” on the right and upload all of your manuscript files following the instructions given on the screen.
