The Iranian Journal of Pharmaceutical Research (IJPR) is a peer-reviewed multi-disciplinary pharmaceutical publication, scheduled to appear quarterly and serve as a means for scientific information exchange in the international pharmaceutical forum. The Journal, particularly welcomes contribution relevant to the Middle East region. Specific scientific topics of interest to the journal include, but are not limited to: pharmaceutics, industrial pharmacy, pharmacology, ethnopharmacology, pharmacognosy, medicinal plants, toxicology, medicinal chemistry, novel analytical methods for drug characterization, computational and modeling approaches to drug design, bio-medical experience, clinical investigation, rational drug prescribing, pharmacoeconomics, biotechnology, biopharmaceutics and physical pharmacy.

Instructions to Authors

The Iranian Journal of Pharmaceutical Research (IJPR) is a peer-reviewed multi-disciplinary pharmaceutical publication, scheduled to appear quarterly and serve as a means for scientific information exchange in the international pharmaceutical forum. The Journal, particularly welcomes contribution relevant to the Middle East region. Specific scientific topics of interest to the journal include, but are not limited to: pharmaceutics, industrial pharmacy, pharmacology, ethnopharmacology, pharmacognosy, medicinal plants, toxicology, medicinal chemistry, novel analytical methods for drug characterization, computational and modeling approaches to drug design, bio-medical experience, clinical investigation, rational drug prescribing, pharmacoeconomics, biotechnology, biopharmaceutics and physical pharmacy. Papers with didactic orientation, bulletins and subjects of exclusively local interest will not be considered for publication.

Manuscript Consideration

Full Disclosure. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a cover letter signed by the corresponding author on behalf of all the authors that its publication has been approved by all coauthors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities at the institute where the work has been carried out. The cover letter should explicitly state that the manuscript has not been previously published in any language anywhere (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture, review, or thesis) and that it is not under simultaneous consideration by another journal. Moreover, Iranian Journal of Pharmaceutical Research will not publish any manuscript unless the chemical structures of all compounds are fully disclosed, either by reference to prior work providing such data or by enclosure of such data in the manuscript.

Copyright Transfer. A statement transferring copyright from the authors (or their employers, if they hold the copyright) to School of Pharmacy, Shaheed Beheshti University of Medical Sciences will be required before the manuscript can be accepted for publication.

All the articles published in this journal are protected by copyright, which covers the exclusive rights to reproduce and distribute the article (e.g. as offprints), as well as all translation right. No material published in this journal may be reproduced photographically or stored on microfilm, in electronic databases, video disks, etc. without first obtaining written permission from the publisher. The use of general descriptive names, trade names, trademarks, in this publication, even if not specifically identified, does not imply that these names are not protected by the relevant laws and regulations.

Ethics in Animal and Clinical Investigations. Investigations using experimental animals must state in the Methods section that the research adhered to the Principles of Laboratory Animal Care (NIH publication #85−23, revised in 1985). Investigation with human subjects must state in the Methods section that the research followed the tenets of the Declaration of Helsinki promulgated in 1964 and was approved by the institutional human experimentation committee or equivalent, and that informed consent was obtained.

Peer Review. All submissions will be reviewed anonymously by at least two independent referees. Authors are encouraged to suggest names of expert reviewers, but selection remains a prerogative of the Editors. Authors may include supplementary material to facilitate the review process. If an accepted paper is cited that has not yet appeared in print and is required for evaluation of the submitted manuscript, authors should provide an electronic version for use by the referees. Authors are responsible for all statements in their work, including changes made by the copyeditor after a manuscript is accepted. The authors may propose three potential reviewers in the field of the however, their endorsement depends on the editorial decision.

Submission: Manuscripts should be written in clear and concise English. Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the Requirements for Manuscripts Submission to Biomedical Journals proclaimed by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (The Complete Document appears in http: //www.icmje.org). Authors are responsible for all statements made in their work. The right is reserved to incorporate any changes deemed necessary by the Editorial Board to make contributions harmonize the editorial standards of the Journal.

One original along with three copies of the manuscript should be submitted to the Editor: B. Shafaghi, Iranian Pharmaceutical Research, Editorial Office, School of Pharmacy, Shaheed Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and Health Services, P.O. Box: 14155-6153, Tehran, Iran.

Authors are strongly encouraged to submit their manuscript in electronic format (on a floppy diskette or e-mail attachment) accompanied by a fully matched hard copy to expedite peer review. Manuscript should be in either WordPerfect 5.1 (4.2 or later) or Microsoft Word for PC (2.0 or later) format. The entire article should be submitted as a single file. Do not insert tabs in references. Use one hard return at the end of each reference.

Structure of Articles: Articles, Short Communications, Reviews and Commentaries that address scope of the journal will be considered for publication. Articles should include title page, abstract, keywords, introduction, material/patients and methods, results & discussion, acknowledgement, references, tables, figures, and legends, enumerated from the title page. While there are no fixed limitations to the length of an article, authors are asked to write their manuscripts in a clear and concise manner and to include only data crucial to arriving at their final conclusions. Short Communications are preliminary or final reports limited to approximately 1500 words. They must be of sufficient importance and general interest to justify accelerated publication. Commentaries represent the author considered opinion within the scope of the journal. If the commentary criticizes an article published in the journal, the authors of the original article will be given an opportunity to reply in the same issue in which the commentary is published. Reviews are by invitation only. Authors interested in preparing a commentary or review Article should provide a brief outline to the editor, requesting an invitation to submit a manuscript in one of those categories.

Title Page should include title, author(s) (include first name, department affiliation, and institution), running title (≤50 characters, including spaces), name and address of author to whom correspondence and reprint requests should be addressed.

Abstracts are not structured but should include the title, aims, methods, results, and conclusion. It should not be more than 250 words.

Keywords: For indexing purposes, each submitted article should include four to seven keywords, preferably chosen from the Medical Subject Headings (MESH).

References: The authors are responsible for the accuracy of the bibliographic information. References must be numbered consecutively in order of citation in the text. Mark reference citations in parenthesis. Personal communications, unpublished data, including manuscripts submitted but not already-accepted for publication, may also be used as a reference.

Periodical titles should be abbreviated according to the Index Medicus. Inclusive page numbers should be given for all references. Print surnames and initials of all authors. Do not use   References to web site, web pages or other electronic sources should include access date of the data. The style and punctuation of the references should conform to the following examples:

Tables: Enumerate tables with Arabic numerals. They should be self-explanatory, clearly arranged, and supplemental to the text. Tables should provide easier understanding and not duplicate information already included in the text or figures.

Figures should be utilized only if they augment understandability of the text. Drawings and graphs should be professionally prepared in deep-black and submitted as glossy, black-and-white clean photostats. Professionally designed computer generated graphs with a minimum of 300 DPI laser printer output is also acceptable. Each figure should have a label on the back, listing the figure number, title of manuscript, first author, and an arrow indicating the top. Illustrations should be numbered as cited in the sequential order in the text, and each should have a legend on a separate sheet. Color photographs are welcome at no extra charge.
