About the journal
Innate Immunity is a highly ranked, peer reviewed scholarly journal and is the official journal of the International Endotoxin & Innate Immunity Society (IEIIS). The journal welcomes manuscripts from researchers actively working on all aspects of innate immunity including biologically active bacterial, viral, fungal, parasitic, and plant components, as well as relevant cells, their receptors, signaling pathways, and induced mediators.
The aim of the Journal is to provide a single, interdisciplinary forum for the dissemination of new information on innate immunity in humans, animals, and plants to researchers. The Journal creates a vehicle for the publication of articles encompassing all areas of research, basic, applied, and clinical. The subject areas of interest include, but are not limited to, research in biochemistry, biophysics, cell biology, chemistry, clinical medicine, immunology, infectious disease, microbiology, molecular biology, and pharmacology.
The Journal includes original research articles, notes, and (mini)reviews. It is the intention that each issue of the Journal also will contain an invited review of a scientific topic of current interest. Instructions to Authors
New Submission
Submissions should be made by logging in and selecting the Author Center and the 'Click here to Submit a New Manuscript' option. Follow the instructions on each page, clicking the 'Next' button on each screen to save your work and advance to the next screen. If at any stage you have any questions or require the user guide, please use the 'Get Help Now' button at the top right of every screen. Further help is available through ScholarOne's® Manuscript CentralTM customer support at +1 434 817 2040 x 167.
To upload your files, click on the 'Browse' button and locate the file on your computer. Select the designation of each file (i.e. main document, submission form, figure) in the drop down next to the browse button. When you have selected all files you wish to upload, click the 'Upload Files' button
Review your submission (in both PDF and HTML formats) and then click the Submit button
You may suspend a submission at any point before clicking the Submit button and save it to submit later. After submission, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. You can also log back into your author centre at any time to check the status of your manuscript.
Please ensure that you submit editable/source files only (Microsoft Word or RTF) and that your document does not include page numbers; the Innate Immunity SAGETRACK system will generate them for you, and then automatically convert your manuscript to PDF for peer review. All correspondence, including notification of the Editor's decision and requests for revisions, will be by email.

Submitting a Revised Submission
Authors submitting revised manuscripts should follow the instructions above to submit through the SAGETRACK system. To create a revision, go to the 'Manuscripts with Decisions' option in your Author Dashboard and select 'create a revision in the 'Action' column. Authors of all revised submissions should, when prompted, provide information explaining the changes in your manuscript as this will be provided to reviewers.
Manuscripts submitted for publication should be submitted electronically as a PDF file to the Editor-in-Chief. Contributors are required to suggest at least four names of possible referees as well as the name of an Editorial Board member qualified to appropriately handle their manuscript.

Organization of Final Manuscripts
Manuscripts that have been accepted for publication should also have .tex and .eps files as the source files, or a Word document with separate figure files.
Form of Manuscript: Papers should be set out as follows, with each section beginning on a separate sheet: title page, summary, text, acknowledgements, references, tables, captions to illustrations.
Title page. The title page should give the following information: (1) title of the article; (2) one first name and name of each author; (3) address of the department or institution to which the work should be attributed; (4) full postal address of each author; (5) name, telephone, fax number and email address of the author responsible for correspondence and to whom proofs and e-prints should be sent.
Abstract. This should consist of not more than 200 words summarizing the contents of the article. It is important, especially for indexing services, that the abstract should be intelligible without reference to the full text or to literature references. The abstract must stand alone, and it should be presumed that the reader has some knowledge of the subject but has not read the paper.
Keywords. Authors are requested to supply up to five keywords (words or phrases in alphabetical order).
Text. Headings should be appropriate to the nature of the paper. In general, those for experimental papers should follow the usual conventions. Other papers can be subdivided as the author desires; the use of headings enhances readability.
Acknowledgements. Sources of support in the form of grants should be included where relevant.

Tables. Tables should be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals and grouped at the end of the manuscript. Each table should be typed double-spaced on a separate page with a short descriptive title above and footnotes below.
Figures and Illustrations. Submit figures in the form of .eps or .jpg files with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi (.tif files are accepted but not ideal). Each figure should be saved as a separate file and named according to the figure number. Legends should be typed on a separate page.
References. The accuracy of references is the responsibility of the author. References should be entered consecutively by Arabic numerals as superscripts following the punctuation mark (e.g. . . tested.27 The. . . ). Reference to journals should include the author's name and initials (list all authors when six or fewer; when seven or more, list only the first three and add et al.), full title of paper, journal title abbreviated (using Index Medicus abbreviations), year of publication, volume number, first and last page numbers,

It is the responsibility of the author(s) to obtain written consent to use any material published previously from the original publisher and copyright holder. As a courtesy, please also inform the original author of the material of your intentions.
Patient confidentiality.
Where illustrations must include recognizable individuals, living or dead and of whatever age, great care must be taken to ensure that consent for publication has been given. If identifiable features are not essential to the illustration, please indicate where the illustration can be cropped. In cases where consent has not been obtained and recognizable features may appear, it will be necessary to retouch the illustration to mask the eyes or otherwise render the individual `officially' unrecognizable.
PROPRIETARY NAMES
Proprietary names of drugs, instruments etc. should be indicated by the use of initial capital letters.
ABBREVIATIONS AND UNITS
All measurements should be expressed in metric units. For more detailed recommendations, authors may consult the Royal Society of Medicine publication entitled Units, Symbols and Abbreviations: A Guide for Biological and Medical Editors and Authors or USA equivalent.
Proofs
Authors will be emailed proofs as PDF files. Please check for typographical errors. Extensive alterations incur additional production costs that will be charged to the authors. Corrected proofs must be returned to the publisher within 3 days of receipt. Submitted material will not be routinely be returned to authors unless specifically requested when returning proofs.
Offprints
Access to 25 free e-prints will be provided; the corresponding author will receive one complimentary copy of the journal for each contributor.
