About the journal

Basic Information

The Revista Brasileira de Fruticultura (Brazilian Magazine of Fruit Culture) was created in 1978 together with the Brazilian Society of fruit culture (Sociedada Brasileira de Fruticultura) which was created in 1970 to spread researches of brazilian fruits.

The Revista Brasileira de Fruticultura is addressed to the publication of technical scientific papers and scientific cominication in the Fruit culture area referred to the results of original researches, unpublished works, typed in Portuguese, Spanish or English.

Its abbreviated title is Rev. Bras. Frutic., and it should be used in bibliographies, footnotes, references and bibliographic strips.

Instructions to Authors

Form and preparation of manuscripts

1. The Revista Brasileira de Fruticultura (RBF) publishes technical articles and scientific communications in fruit crops area, referring to results of originals searches and unpublished paper in Portuguese, Spanish or English.

  1. All the authors must sign the work’s letters direction mentioning that: “THE AUTHORS DECLARE THAT THEIR REFERRED WORK WAS NOT PUBLISHED PREVIOUSLY, OR DIRECTED FOR PUBLICATION IN OTHER MAGAZINE AND THEY AGREE WITH THE SUBMISSION AND TRANSFERING THE RIGHTS OF PUBLICATION OF THE REFERRED ARTICLE FOR THE RBF MAGAZINE.”, it should indicate the nature of publication (ARTICLE OR SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATION). In agreement with the nature of the publication, the work should be written in agreement with the respective norms. Works submitted as article will not be judged or published as Scientific Communication and vice-versa.
  2. 3.When the number of authors of the manuscript is bigger than four (4), it is necessary to provide a separate letter with the effective contribution of each author to the attainment of the submitted manuscript.

3. Send four copies of the paper (three copies without the name (s) of the author (s) to be utilized by the advisers and one complete copy for the archive, including e-mail). The size of the print paper should be 210 x 297 mm, numbered consecutively, side margins must have 2 cm, space one and a half and the font Times New Roman 13 should be used, written only in one side of the paper.

4. The text should be written draft, with charts and pictures showed in separated papers, in the end of the article.

5. The cost for publication in RBF is U$ 200, 00 per work with 12 pages; each extra page will cost U$ 40, 00. The payment should be done this way:

a) 60% in the beginning, when the work is been directed.

b) Only for the ones who are not associated with SBF, more 40% should be paid when the paper will be accepted.

6. OBS: The papers that were refused will not be refunded.

8. The articles should be organized in Title, Full names of the Authors (without abbreviations), Summary (including index terms), Abstract (including Index Terms), Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, Discussion (or Results and Discussion), Conclusion, Gratefulness (optional), References, Charts and Pictures.

9. The communications should have simple structure (eight pages) with an ousted text, without detaching the items Introduction to Conclusion.

  1. The Baseboard of the first page will be completed, with the professional qualification and the author’s actual address and mentions about financial support.
  2. The Legends of the pictures and the charts should be self explicative and concise. The pictures (graphics, drawing or photography) should be presented in black and white, to be printed in color, figures and photos have an additional charge of US$250,00 per page where they appear. Legends, symbols, equations, tables, etc. should have such a size which could be legible even after a reduction of about 50%. The legend should be part of the figure, but title should be avoided or written as text. Photos should be identified on the black side, with author names, and the corresponding figure number.
  3. The final version of the article should be followed by copy in CD, using the programs Word for Windows (text) and Excel (graphics).
  4. In the tables should be avoided vertical lines. Horizontal lines only used to separate head and the end of the table.
  5. The References will be normalized in agreement with ABNT rules, listed in alphabetic order. Some examples are:

AUTHOR (S). Title of the chapter or part referent, in. AUTHOR OR EDITOR. Publication’s title in general. Publication. City of publication: company, publication’s year, volume, chapter’s number and/or the first and the last page of the referent part.

BOOK IN THE INTERNET

AUTHOR(S).Title. edition (abbreviated). City: Company, year, pages (total or partial).

Available in <web page>. Access in: day, month (abbreviated). year.

AUTHOR(S). Title. Edition (abbreviated). City: company, year. Page CD-ROM

EVENTS:

AUTHOR. Title of the paper. In: NAME OF THE EVENT, number, year, city.

Thesis:

AUTHOR. Title. Local of presentation (city), date, numbers of pages. Thesis category (grade and concentration’s area) – Institution, University.

PATTERNS FOR CHART AND PICTURE

CHART – Microsoft Word 97 or superior version; Source : Times new roman, size 10; Paragraph / spacing: simple; Chart width: 10 or 20 cm; Besides sending the chart in the same file of the work paper, please send each chart in separate files; The title or the skirting board should be printed in the MS Word.

GRAPHIC – Microsoft Excel / Word 97 or superior version; Source: Times new roman, Size: 10; Width: 10 cm or 20 cm; Besides the graphic is joined in the work paper it should be sent separately, as image (in the extension JPG, TIF or GIF with 300 dpi of resolution) and as Excel file attending the specification of width and source.

PICTURES - All pictures should be with 300dpi of resolution in an extension file : JPG, JPEG,TIF or GIF; Besides being in the body of the work paper; The title or skirting board should be printed in the MS Word.

Figure or images created by other programs - The images created by other programs that are not from Microsoft Office should be with 300 dpi in the extension: jpg, tif or gif; The title or skirting board should be printed in the MS Word.
