The journal is the leading German publication for the promulgation of the results of original work both in the areas of scientific and clinical orthodontics and related areas. All articles undergo peer review before publication, and appear in both English and German. The German Society of Orthodontics (DGKFO) also publishes in the journal important communications, statements and announcements. The journal represents the major German forum for international communication and education in the field of orofacial orthopedics.   Die Zeitschrift Journal of Orofacial Orthopedics/Fortschritte der Kieferorthopädie informiert kompetent und aktuell Kieferorthopäden und kieferorthopädisch arbeitende Zahnärzte in Klinik und Praxis über Ergebnisse aus der experimentellen und klinischen Forschung des Fachgebiets. Dabei stellt die Zeitschrift das bedeutendste deutsche Publikationsorgan für Originalarbeiten aus der wissenschaftlichen und klinischen Kieferorthopädie sowie relevanter angrenzender Fachgebiete dar. Alle Beiträge durchlaufen ein Peer-Reviewing und erscheinen sowohl in Deutsch als auch in Englisch. Die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kieferorthopädie (DGKFO) veröffentlicht darüber hinaus wichtige Mitteilungen, Statements und Ankündigungen.
