Instructions to Authors
The member of the society can contribute a manuscript except Foreword, Meeting Reviews and Book Reviews.
Types of manuscripts
Foreword
Seminar: an explanation on a specific subject.
Lecture: an introductory course on a specific field in a serial form.
Data: technical data, technical information.
Essay: a personal experience, a memoir, an essay.
Meeting reviews: reviews of the biannual meeting.
Topics: a topic of foreign country, a report of international meeting.
Our team: an introduction of the laboratory or working group.
Inspection tour report: report on study tour to research institutes, factories, laboratories and others.
Book reviews: reviews of new books.
Length of manuscripts
The number of the pages is limited as follows; About 550 English words is to be one printing page.

|
Author's picture should be a bust shot about 30 x 30 mm in size taken within the last six months. Author’s profiles should contain the affiliation, resume, major field and so on.
Style instructions for manuscripts
Use plain JIS A4 size papers and print in double-space with a word-processor or a typewriter.
Seminar and Lecture should be written according to the following order, Abstract, main body, Japanese abstract (if possible). Japanese abstract should contain title in Japanese, authors’ full names, authors’ affiliations including the names and postal addresses of the institutions in full. If the title contains the numbering of the article, it should be written by the Gothic number.
ex. Title: Energy transfer rates and impact sensitivities of crystalline explosives Author: Alan R. Miller, Jemmy Hao, Allen Gehris J., and Patrick Wolf Affiliation: Center for Explosives Technology Research New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology Soccoro, New Mexico 87801, U.S.A
On the first page of manuscripts, write the main title, the names of the authors, and the received date left bland for the editor to verify; like, “Received on _______ ”. After that, write down the names of the institutions, their postal addresses, telephone and FAX numbers.

Abstract and the main body should be started from the second page.
For headlines and subheadlines, use the point system rather than the chapter-section-item etc.
ex. 1., 1.2, 1.2.3
Use foreign spellings for foreign names of the places, people and books.
As for the mathematical formula, basically, write as , but in the sentences, use slashed fraction such as x,y,z. Variables should be written by Italic letters.
Use the international customary unites, signs and marks for quantities.
As for chemical compounds, do not use chemical formulas but use English names. However concerning the chemical elements and simple inorganic compounds, chemical formulas can be used. And in order to express the compound with abbreviations, append a note about the abbreviation to its first appearance in the body of the paper.
ex. ammonium perchlorate (abbreviated as AP, hereafter)
For references, use numerals as superscripts and may be cited by the number on line. As for the journals, the names of the authors, the name of the journal, volume number, pages and the year are to be described. As for the books, author’s names, pages, year of publication and the publisher are to be started. The names of the authors should cover all the authors. Use only initials for the first and middle names. Title of the reference should be included. An abbreviation of the journal should be written according to the rules of the Journal of Japan Chemical Society.
ex. Journal: C. Lewis, R. Walsh, R. Becerra, J. Am. Chem. Soc., 93, 250(1971). Book and proceedings: T. Urbanski, “Chemistry and Technology of Explosives”, Vol.2, p.62(1965), Perbamon Press. J. A. Britten, C. K. Westbrook, Twenty-Third Symposium on Combustion, pp.195-202(1990), The Combustion Institute, Pittsburg.
How to draw figures, tables and photographs
Modification of the figures can not be admitted after finishing the photoengraving.
Figures should be drawn on a blue graph section paper or a white plain paper.
Figures should be smaller than 16cm x 10cm, and should be accompanied with the letters, numbers, signs and titles of vertical and horizontal axes in letterings. Letters should be in proper sizes after making a half reduction in photoengraving.
Submit the clear prints of the photographs.
The explanations of figures, tables and pictures should be written in English.
Each figure, table and photographs has to be provided with the name of the author.
Additional notes
The acceptance, alteration of the type of manuscript and the correction of words and phrases of manuscripts are determined by the editorial committee.
Manuscripts for contribution, review and author's proofreading should be addressed to the editorial committee;

The received date will be the arrival date at the editorial committee, and the editorial committee will fill the date.
The editorial committee may require amendments of the manuscript or return it to the author. When amendments are required, the manuscript should be resubmitted within one month.
Only the first galley will be proofread by the author. Sometimes, the author’s proofreading may be omitted.
Additional printing: the printing expense calculated by the requested number of copies in the unit of 100 shall be charged to the author.
Contributed manuscripts are basically not be returned after printing.
Copyright of the articles published in this journal belongs to The Japan Explosives Society.
Submit two clear copies of the manuscript with clear copied of figures and the original figures.
If the manuscript is written by the word processor, attach one floppy diskette which contains the text file of the manuscript. Indicate the OS and the software used with file name on the label of the diskette.
Submission by e-mail is only acceptable for the text file only. An attached file to the e-mail containing figures is only acceptable for the MS-Word file. Graphics must be submitted as EPS or RTF format.
