About the journal
Current Neurovascular Research (CNR) provides a cross platform for the publication of scientifically rigorous research that addresses disease mechanisms of both neuronal and vascular origins in neuroscience. The journal serves as an international forum for the publication of novel and pioneering original work as well as timely neuroscience research reviews in the disciplines of cell developmental disorders, plasticity, and degeneration that bridge the gap between basic science research and clinical discovery. CNR emphasizes the elucidation of disease mechanisms, both cellular and molecular, which can impact the development of unique therapeutic strategies for neuronal and vascular disorders.
Instructions to Authors
Manuscripts and letters should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief at the following address:
Kenneth Maiese Editor-in-Chief, Current Neurovascular Research Division of Cellular and Molecular Cerebral Ischemia Neurology and Anatomy & Cell Biology, Molecular Medicine and Institute for Environmental Health Sciences Wayne State University School of Medicine Detroit, MI USA Fax: +1-313-966-0486 E-mail: aa2088@wayne.edu
Original Manuscripts: Although no page limitation exists, manuscripts submitted as Original Articles should be concise, well organized, and clearly written. The journal welcomes the submission of novel and pioneering work in the fields of cell developmental disorders, plasticity, or degeneration that relate to either neuronal or vascular biology in the nervous system. Submissions must not be under consideration by any other source or represent previously published work, except in abstract format.
Full Length reviews and Mini-reviews: It is advisable that authors first submit a Letter of Intent to the Editor-in-Chief prior to submitting the full manuscript. The Letter of Intent should include the following information: the authors' names and institutional affiliation(s), title of the proposed article, abstract that outlines the relevance and content of the work, and proposed length (mini review or full length review). Full length reviews are intended to provide the reader with a comprehensive assessment of an area in neuronal and vascular biology focusing on the disciplines of cell developmental disorders, plasticity, or degeneration. The work should not only relate to the elucidation of disease mechanisms that can impact the development of novel therapeutic strategies, but also be of interest to investigators beyond the boundaries of the immediate area of interest of the author(s). Mini reviews are encouraged for the discussion of new discoveries or disciplines in neuronal and vascular biology that concentrate on recent findings over the prior two to three years. A mini-review is intended to provide a forum for debate and present new hypotheses or models for the interpretation of current and future work. As a result, a balanced view of the new developments is warranted and should not concentrate unduly on the author's published work. For full length review articles, the manuscript, should not exceed 70 pages in length (ca. 30 printed pages) and for mini-reviews a maximum of 40 manuscript pages in length (ca. 15 printed pages). The manuscript should be typed or printed with a laser printer in double spacing throughout on A-4 or American quarto paper. Dot matrix print or any print that is difficult to read will be returned without further consideration. All pages should be numbered. Abbreviations should be defined the first time that they are used in the manuscript and a list of abbreviations used should be provided.
Letters to the Editor: The journal will also consider for publication letters that comment on original work and reviews published in Current Neurovascular Research. It is recommended that these letters usually not exceed 400 words plus up to 10 references. Longer letters are less likely to be published. However, the Editors recognize that in some cases letters may need to be longer. All letters should be submitted to the journal Editor-in-Chief.
Manuscript Organization: The manuscript should be divided as follows: Title page, abstract, a list of up to eight key words, and the main text. The first page should contain the title, the authors' names and affiliation(s) with an asterisk at the end of the name of the principal author, the complete address, email, telephone, and fax numbers for the corresponding author, and a running title of no more than 50 characters and spaces. For Original Manuscripts, headings should include Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements (if any), and References. For Reviews, headings should include Introduction, the main text that may be subdivided further according to the areas to be discussed, Conclusions or Perspectives, Acknowledgements (if any), and References. Legends for figures should follow the Reference section.
Conflict of Interest: Financial contributions to the work being reported should be clearly acknowledged, as should any potential conflict of interest.
Abstract: The abstract should not exceed 250 words and it should condense the essential features of the review article, with the focus on the major advances in the field.
Key Words: Authors must supply up to eight key words along with their manuscript.
Text: The main text should begin on a separate page and it may be subdivided into separate sections. For reviews, the article should mention any previous important reviews in the field and contain a comprehensive discussion starting with the general background of the field. It should then go on to discuss the salient features of recent developments. The authors should avoid presenting material that has already been published in a previous review.
Tables:
- Data Tables should be submitted in Microsoft Excel or in Microsoft Word table format.
- Each table should include a title/caption explaining what the table shows. Detailed legends may then follow.
- Tables should be given on separate pages with indications on the left hand margin to the text, as to the appropriate placement of the tables.
- Tables should not contain vertical rules.
- Columns and rows of data should be made visibly distinct by ensuring the borders of each cell display as black lines.
- Tables should be numbered consecutively in order of their citation in the body of the text, with Arabic numerals.
- If a reference is cited in both the table and text, insert a lettered footnote in the table to refer to the numbered reference in the text.
- Tabular data provided as additional files can be submitted as an Excel spreadsheet.

Online Manuscript Submission: (preferable)
To facilitate speedy and cost-effective submission of abstracts and manuscripts, an online submission and tracking service via Internet is being offered. Once the Editor-in-Chief of the journal has accepted your abstract, we would prefer that you submit your full manuscript online via our online submission service available at www.bentham-mps.org or submission at www.bentham-ftp.org
For online submission, please provide your complete manuscript in the form of a single zipped folder containing all the material (main text, figures/ illustrations, scanned photographs, tables, chemical structures drawn in ChemDraw) as separate files and a PDF version of the entire manuscript with all the figures/ illustrations / tables / chemical structures etc., embedded in the text exactly in the manner as they should appear in printing.
Authors are required to proofread the PDF version of their manuscript before submission. The article will be published exactly as received and the Publishers will not be responsible for any error occurring in the manuscript in this regard.
For online submission of manuscripts, these should be submitted via our online manuscript submission service available at www.bentham-mps.org or by FTP submission at www.bentham-ftp.org
You may, however, still submit your abstracts and manuscripts through conventional surface mail.

Copyright: It is a condition of publication that manuscripts submitted to this journal have not been published and will not be simultaneously submitted or published elsewhere. Plagiarism is strictly forbidden, and by submitting the article for publication the authors agree that the publishers have the legal right to take appropriate action against the authors, if plagiarism is discovered. By submitting a manuscript the authors agree that the copyright of their article is transferred to the publishers if and when the article is accepted for publication.
Bentham Open Access: Accepted articles can be published online for an immediate free open access for all to view. Authors must pay for this service.
Reprints: Each first named author will receive a free copy of the journal issue in which their article is published. Reprints may be ordered from the Publisher.
