About the journal

The Asian Journal of Control, an ACA (Asian Control Association) and CACS (Chinese Automatic Control Society) affiliated journal, is the first international journal originating from the Asia Pacific region. The Asian Journal of Control publishes papers on original theoretical and experimental research and developments in the areas of control, involving all facets of control theory and its application. Published six times a year, the Journal aims to be a key interface between control communities within the Asia Pacific region and throughout the world.

The Journal provides a forum where control researchers and practitioners can exchange knowledge and experiences on the latest advances in the control areas, and plays an educational role for students and experienced researchers in other disciplines interested in this continually growing field. The scope of the journal is extensive. Topics include:

1.The theory and design of control systems and components, encompassing

Robust and distributed control using geometric, optimal, stochastic and nonlinear methods

Game theory and state estimation

Adaptive control, including neural networks, learning, parameter estimation and system fault detection

2.Artificial intelligence, fuzzy and expert systems

3.Hierarchical and man-machine systems

4.All parts of systems engineering which consider the reliability of components and systems

5.Emerging application areas, such as

6.

Robotics

Data processing

Mechatronics

Computers for computer-aided design, manufacturing, and control of various industrial processes

Space vehicles and aircraft, ships, and traffic

Copyright and Permissions

Authors must sign, scan and upload to the online system

• a
Copyright Transfer Agreement with original signature(s) - without this we are unable to accept the submission, and
• permission grants - if the manuscript contains extracts, including illustrations, from other copyright works (including material from online or intranet sources) it is the author's responsibility to obtain written permission from the owners of the publishing rights to reproduce such extracts using the Wiley Permission Request Form .
The Copyright Transfer Form and the Permissions Form should be uploaded as “Supplementary files not for review” with the online submission of your article.

If you do not have access to a scanner, further instructions will be given to you after acceptance of the manuscript.

To enable the publisher to disseminate the author's work to the fullest extent, the author must sign a Copyright Transfer Agreement, transferring copyright in the article from the author to the publisher, and submit the original signed agreement with the article presented for publication.

A copy of the agreement to be used (which may be photocopied) can be found in the first issue of the year on the Wiley InterScience website and through links in the online submission system.

Copies may also be obtained from the journal editors or publisher.

Submission of a manuscript will be held to imply that it contains original unpublished work and is not being submitted for publication elsewhere at the same time. Submitted material will not be returned to the author, unless specifically requested.

Manuscript style.
The language of the journal is English. 12-point type in one of the standard fonts: Times, Helvetica, or Courier is preferred. It is not necessary to double-line space your manuscript. Tables must be on separate pages after the reference list and not be incorporated into the main text. Figures should be uploaded as separate figure files.

• During the submission process you must enter the full title, short title of up to 70 characters and names and affiliations of all authors. Give the full address, including email, telephone and fax, of the author who is to check the proofs.
• Include the name(s) of any sponsor(s) of the research contained in the paper, along with grant number(s) .
• Enter a summary of up to 300 words for all articles [except book reviews]. This is a concise summary of the whole paper, not just the conclusions, and should be understandable without reference to the rest of the paper. It should contain no citation to other published work.
• Include up to five keywords that describe your paper for indexing purposes.
• Supply a brief biography and recent photograph of each author.
• A list of all the symbols used should be included between the Conclusions and the References.
• Please note, as a symbol for voltages use U, u, rather than V, v, in accordance with the international standard.

Reference style. References should be cited in the text by number within square brackets and listed at the end of the paper in the order in which they appear in the text. All references must be complete and accurate. If necessary, cite unpublished or personal work in the text but do not include it in the reference list. Where possible the DOI* for the reference should be included at the end of the reference. Online citations should include date of access. References should be listed in the following style:

1. Etkin, B., Dynamics of Atmospheric Flight, John Wiley and Sons,New York, NY (1970).
2. Morris, J. G. and K. K. Howard, “Thermomechanical treatment ofalloys,”. J. Appl. Phys., Vol. 42, No. 1, pp. 320–325 (1971).
3. Pfaltz, J. L., A. K. Weber and A. Rosenfeld, “Fault detection, isolation and reconstruction for descriptor systems," Proc. 1stInt. Joint Conf. Artif. Intell., Washington, DC, pp. 231–236(1969).

*The Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is an identification system for intellectual property in the digital environment. Developed by the International DOI Foundation on behalf of the publishing industry, its goals are to provide a framework for managing intellectual content, link customers with publishers, facilitate electronic commerce, and enable automated copyright management.

Illustrations. Upload each figure as a separate file in either .tiff or .eps format, with the lead author's name, the figure number and the top of the figure indicated. Compound figures e.g. 1a, b, c should be uploaded as one figure. Tints are not acceptable. Lettering must be of a reasonable size that would still be clearly legible upon reduction, and consistent within each figure and set of figures. Where a key to symbols is required, please include this in the artwork itself, not in the figure legend. All illustrations must be supplied at the correct resolution:

• Black and white and colour photos - 300 dpi
• Graphs, drawings, etc - 800 dpi preferred; 600 dpi minimum
• Combinations of photos and drawings (black and white and colour)- 500 dpi

Colour policy. The cost of printing colour illustrations in the Journal may be charged to the author. If colour illustrations are supplied electronically in either TIFF or EPS format, they maybe used in the PDF of the article at no cost to the author, even if this illustration was printed in black and white in the Journal. The PDF will appear on the Wiley InterScience website.

POST ACCEPTANCE
Further information. For accepted manuscripts the publisher will supply proofs to the corresponding author prior to publication. This stage is to be used only to correct errors that may have been introduced during the production process. Prompt return of the corrected proofs, preferably within two days of receipt, will minimise the risk of the paper being held over to a later issue. Once your article is published online no further amendments can be made. Fifty complimentary offprints will be provided for papers accepted for publication before 1 September 2009. Thereafter, authors registering for Author Services will be granted free online access to the PDF version of their article. Authors may also nominate up to 10 specialists to receive free online access to the article via Author Services.

Page charges. Asian Journal of Control requires the payment of the following page charges for publication in the journal:

• For Review Papers, US$100 for each page in excess of 14 pages
• For Brief Papers , US$100 for each page in excess of 4 pages
• For Regular Papers , US$100 for each page in excess of 10 pages

A page charge order form will be sent to authors with the proofs of their article.
