About the journal
Each issue of Topics in Catalysis is devoted to a particular theme. The Editors-in-Chief, Gabor Somorjai and Sir John Meurig Thomas, choose that theme and appoint Guest Editors to put together an issue devoted to it. The Guest Editors in turn invite individual researchers to contribute timely and appropriate papers which, after being refereed, are collected into a topical issue. In addition to issues on topical themes reflecting the trends of the current research in catalysis, issues are published on the subejcts of international symposia, the foci of national meetings, and as festschrifts for eminent catalysis scientists. Individuals are encourages to propose to the Editors-in-Chief suitable topics to be covered in future issues of Topics in Catalysis.
Instructions to Authors
All manuscripts should treat some aspect of Catalysis and should be sent in triplicate to the Guest Editor(s). Papers should NOT be submitted either to the publisher directly or to the Editors in Chief.
All manuscripts must be written in English.
All manuscripts should be typed with double spacing and wide margins and should include the following items:
A full descriptive title and a short title for running headlines.
A list of the authors with their affiliations and full postal addresses.
An abstract of about 50 words; keywords (index terms).
Acknowledgements (if any) and references, which should be placed at the end of the manuscript before any tables or figures.
A list of keywords.
Tables (if any) should be numbered consecutively and each should have a caption.
Originals or good prints of all figures and diagrams in the manuscript should be submitted with the manuscript itself. These should be drawn to professional standards. The lettering on all originals must be of such a size that after reduction of the drawing to one column or page width (8.4 or 17.2 cm) the letters will still be at least 2 mm high. Half-tone black and white photographs are acceptable. They should be rich of contrast. Micro-photographs should have the enlargement stated in the caption.
References should be given in numerical order as they appear in the manuscript text and cited in the following manner:
For a journal paper: [1] D.J. Buttrey, D.A. Jefferson and J.M. Thomas, Phil. Mag. A 53 (1986) 897.
For a contributed volume paper: [2] A.M. Bradshaw, in: Surface and Defect Properties of Solids, Vol. 3, eds. M.W. Roberts and J.M.Thomas (The Chemical Society, London, 1974) ch. 5.
For a monograph: [3] G.A. Somorjai, Chemistry of Two Dimensions: Surfaces (Cornell University Press, Ithaca, New York, 1981).
Footnotes should be avoided whenever possible and (if any) integrated in the text.
All manuscripts will be subject to peer reviewing by at least two expert referees.
No page charge is made. 25 reprints of each article published in this journal will be supplied free of charge. Additional reprints can be ordered from the publisher at the normal prices of the journal.
