Scientia Marina welcomes manuscripts on marine research -not submitted, accepted or published else-where- concerning the following fields: Physical and Chemical Oceanography, Marine Geology, Marine Biology and Ecology, Marine Engineering, Coastal Zone Management, and Fisheries. Some other fields, such as Aquaculture, will be considered as long as the emphasis is on scientific rather than technical aspects. Preference will be given to manuscripts of multi-disciplinary nature and to those of general interest to marine scientists throughout the world. Studies of local interest and/or of descriptive nature will also be acceptable if significant general implications are included. The following types of contributions can be published in Scientia Marina: Articles, Notes, Comments and Replies, Book Reviews, and Announcements.
Language: Contributions to the regular issues should be in English. |

Instructions to Authors
Editorial Policy: Manuscripts that do not fall within the scope of Scientia Marina, or manuscripts which do not follow the Instructions to Authors will be returned to authors for correction before scientific evaluation. Manuscripts will be assigned to one of the Scientific Editors, who will oversee the review process. Manuscripts will be reviewed by at least two referees. The Editor-in-Chief decides on acceptance or rejection based on the referee's comments and the report of the Scientific Editor. The date of submission and the date of acceptance will be printed on each article. The corresponding author will receive galley proofs and will be responsible for the final version of published articles. Fifty reprints will be sent to the corresponding author free of charge. Additional reprints may be purchased. Orders must be placed when returning corrected proofs using the form provided. The electronic file with the final, published, version will be also sent to the corresponding author. Colour photographs can be published at moderate fees.

Please, carefully follow the instructions: Manuscripts must be printed double-spaced throughout. All pages are to be numbered with Arabic numerals beginning with the title page and including those for tables and figure captions, but excluding the figures. Note the style of punctuation in the following examples: ...poses systematic problems (Hulley, 1981), ...in coastal upwelled waters (Olivieri, 1983a, b; Horstman, SFRI unpublished data), ...following the opinions expressed by Margalef (1978), ...in the same sense, Roel et al. (1985). References should include complete titles and page numbers. Journal abbreviations should be in accordance with the WORLD LIST OF SCIENTIFIC PERIODICALS. Follow the punctuation and style shown in the examples below:
