About the journal

Aims and Scope:

One of the most important journals for international medical research in gastroenterology. International contributors, Editorial Board, and distribution.

Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology publishes research articles of high standard covering all aspects of digestive organs, not just within surgery and internal medicine. The editors welcome reports on all features of patient-oriented research and methodology, as well as cost-benefit evaluations, case reports, and biomedical basal research. Supplements may be accepted after editorial review.

The influx of high-quality manuscripts is so large that the journal is only able to accept around 40% of submitted manuscripts. Based on peer review, the editors select articles of clinical relevance for presentation to the increasing number of subscribers.

Published since 1966, this is a membership journal of the gastroenterologic societies of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. In addition to the original edition in English, Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology also publishes a Chinese edition

The abstract must be structured, incorporating the following section titles: Background,Methods,Results, and Conclusions.Only standard abbreviations should be used. Not more than ten key words should be inserted in alphabetic order below the abstract.Use terms from the Medical Subject Headings list from Index Medicus .The name, current address, fax number, and e-mail address of the author(s)to whom correspondence, proofs, and offprints are to be addressed must be typed below the key words.

All illustrations are to be considered figures.Figures should be submitted in triplicate and numbered consecutively with arabic numerals.Letters, numbers, and symbols must be clear,in proportion to each other, and large enough to be legible when reduced for publication. The author should refer to the journal and decide whether a figure is to cover one,one-and-a-half,or two columns of the journal when printed and then plan the figure accordingly. Photographs should be submitted as near to their printed size as possible. If magnification is significant, indicate it by a bar on the print, not by a magnification factor in the figure legend.Line drawings should be drawn in Indian ink two or three times larger than they will be when they appear in print. They should be drawn in proportion to each other,so that letters, numbers, and symbols in different figures will be the same size after reduction.Stencil lettering in black Indian ink or use dry-transfer or pressure-sensitive lettering sets.Do not attempt to hand-letter line drawings and photographs.Graphs should be plotted on plain white or blue squared paper;grid lines that are to show on the engraving should be inked in black.

Each figure should have a legend containing sufficient information to make the figure intelligible without reference to the text. All the legends must be typed together,double-spaced,on a separate sheet(s).If a figure has been published previously, acknowledge the original source and submit written permission from the copyright holder to reproduce it.
Colour figures must be submitted as colour negatives or positive transparencies and, when necessary, accompanied by drawings marked to indicate the region to be reproduced. The author must pay for the extra cost of colour illustrations.
