Nursing Economics

Nursing Economics advances nursing leadership in health care, with a focus on tomorrow, by providing information and thoughtful analyses of current and emerging best practices in health care management, economics, and policymaking. The journal supports nurse leaders and others who are responsible for directing nursing's impact on health care cost and quality outcomes. The journal is published six times per year. |

Instructions to Authors
The journal accepts original articles, case studies, letters, descriptions of clinical care, and research. Query letters are welcomed, but not required. Material must be original and never before published. Material is submitted for review with the understanding that it is not being nor will it have been submitted to any other journal prior to final consideration by the journal.
Five copies of the manuscript should be submitted to the editorial office; the author retains one copy. Manuscripts not accepted for publication will not be returned to the author unless requested within 30 days of notification of rejection.
The journal is a refereed - all manuscripts submitted undergo review by the editor and blind reviews by the manuscript review panel and/or editorial board. Each article is evaluated on its timeliness, importance, accuracy, clarity, and applicability. Upon submission of the manuscript the author will yield copyright to the journal, contingent upon publication of the manuscript. Acquiring permission to reprint previously published material is the responsibility of the author. Manuscripts accepted are subject to copy editing. The author will receive proofs that reflect all editing prior to publication.
Manuscript Preparation Manuscripts must be typed, double-spaced on 8.5 x 11 inch white paper. Style should generally follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA). Please use the author-date method of citation within the text - (Doe, 1993) or "Doe (1987) states..." With multiple authors, the first citation must list all authors, in subsequent citations list only the name of the first author and et al.
Format of Manuscript Title Page: Include the manuscript title, authors' names and credentials, and a biographic statement. Also include a brief abstract of 40 words or less, along with an address for correspondence and day and evening phone numbers.
Text: Double-space all typing, using 1.5 to 2-inch margins. Include the title, or short descriptor, on top of each page, but do not include authors' names.
Subheadings: Include subheadings in the manuscript where possible. Type all subheadings flush with the left margin.
References: List all references in alphabetical order. Samples references are shown below:
Book -
Doe, J.R. (1993). Skin and aging processes. Boca Raton, FL: CRC Press.
Chapter in a Book -
Doe, J.R., & Smith, B. (1993). Aging of the human skin. In R. Jones (Ed.) Handbook on aging, (pp. 123-234). NY: Nostrand-Rheinhold Company.
Periodical -
Jones, J.F. (1993). Skin cancer. American Journal of Nursing, 84(11), 1234-1456.
Figures include line drawings, photographs, diagrams, and graphs. Each figure must be numbered, and that number must correspond to a statement in the text directing the reader to see that figure. Include a separate legend sheet with double-spaced captions. The author must obtain permission for figures borrowed from another source.
Photographs may be black-and-white, glossy, 5 x 7 inch, or color 5 x 7 inch or 35 mm slides.
Electronic Media
Diskettes: The journal will accept both IBM and Macintosh format diskettes sent with manuscripts. All diskettes should be clearly labeled with the author name, manuscript title, disk type (IBM or Macintosh), file name, and wordprocessor name and version (or file type, if ASCII). IBM diskette densities should be 1.2mb or lower for 5.25" and 1.44mb or lower for 3.5"; Macintosh diskette density should be 1.44mb or lower.
Software: Most, but not all, IBM and Macintosh wordprocessor files are acceptable for submission to the journal. When possible, all files should be saved as WordPerfect. Many spreadsheet files may also be acceptable, but must be approved prior to sending. To ensure acceptability of your disk, please contact the journal office before sending any material.
General: Please use only common fonts (CG Times, Universe, Helvetica, Courier, etc.) and avoid complex font attributes such as outline. All graphics (tables, graphs, etc.) must be submitted in camera-ready form.
