About the journal

 MOLECULAR CRYSTALS AND LIQUID CRYSTALS

Primarily fundamental in tenor, MCLC publishes original research papers of both an experimental and theoretical nature in three areas of specialization: molecular crystals (spectroscopy, energy, and charge transfer, solid state reactions, photo and radiation effects); low-dimensional solids (structure, electronic, magnetic, and optical properties, transport mechanisms); and liquid crystals (electro and magneto-optical phenomena, thermodynamics, phase transitions, structure, NMR and orientation controlled spectroscopy). In all three areas, experimental manuscripts describing both preparation and properties will be considered.

No paper will be published without a transfer of copyright form (PDF or Word Document) and a transmittal form (PDF or Word Document). Please send signed forms along with your manuscript to either the Regional Editor (if a regular submission) or to the appropriate conference organizer (if a conference proceeding).

PROCEEDINGS/CONFERENCES

Articles from proceedings or conferences are to be submitted to the designated coordinator/guest editor, who will notify authors if articles are to be submitted electronically or as camera-ready copy (CRC). If papers are to be submitted as CRC, inquire with the designated coordinator/ guest editor for CRC paper submission instructions. For papers that are to be sent electronically, please follow the submission guidelines for regular papers below , but these papers are still to be sent to the coordinator/guest editor of the proceedings.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Manuscripts should be typed on one side of 8.5 x 11 inch or A4 paper, double-spaced throughout, including the reference section. Three copies of the manuscript should be sent, accompanied by an electronic version. The hardcopy printout must exactly match the file on disk. Manuscripts may also be submitted in hard copy only, with an electronic version being sent after the article has been accepted in a final revised form. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of not more that 100 words. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and reference to the text. Articles must also have three to six keywords. Authors should include telephone and fax numbers, as well as e-mail addresses, on the cover page of manuscripts.

Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher. Manuscripts will not be processed without a completed and signed copyright form (PDF or Word Document).

ELECTRONIC PROCESSING

If you wish, you may initially submit your manuscript electronically to any Regional Editor. Whether you choose electronic or mail submission, send the final, revised version of your article in both paper and electronic forms. We prefer you use Microsoft Word or WordPerfect in a PC format, but will accept any standard word processing software output. Please save all text in one unified file including: the title page, abstract, all sections of the body of the paper, and references, followed by the tables and figure captions. Figures should be in separate files.

ILLUSTRATIONS

Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines:

  • 300 dpi or higher
  • sized to fit on journal page
  • EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only
  • submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files

Color illustrations will be considered for publication; however, the publisher has the right to refuse publication of any artwork deemed unacceptable.

TABLES AND FIGURES

Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate sheets or files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet. All original figures should be clearly marked in pencil on the reverse side with the number, author's name, and top edge indicated.

REFERENCES

References are indicated in the text by consecutive superior arabic numbers enclosed in brackets. The full list should be collected and typed at the end of the paper in numerical order. Listed references should be complete in all details, excluding article titles in journals. Authors' initials should precede their names; journal title abbreviations should conform to the style of the American Physical Society. Examples:

Journal: [1] Mann, A. B., Cammarata, R. C., Nastasi, M.A. J. Mater. Res., 14, 2195, (1999).

Book: [2] Buchner, H. et al. Hydrogen and other alternative fuels for air and ground transportation. Wiley: Chichester, UK, (1995).

Chapter in a Book: [3] Jeffrey, T. et al. Pulsed Laser Deposition of Thin Film. D. B. Chrisey, G. K. Hubler (Eds.), Chapter 6, p. 186, Wiley-InterScience: New York, (1996).

OFFPRINTS AND REPRINTS

Lead authors of articles published in regular issues will receive 25 complimentary offprints of their article. Reprints of individual articles may be purchased from Taylor & Francis by contacting the publishing office at 215-625-8900 (phone); 215-625-2940 (fax).

AIMS AND SCOPE

Primarily fundamental in tenor, Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals publishes original research papers of both an experimental and theoretical nature in three areas of specialization: molecular crystals (spectroscopy, energy, and charge transfer, solid state reactions, photo and radiation effects); low-dimensional solids (structure, electronic, magnetic, and optical properties, transport mechanisms); and liquid crystals (electro- and magneto-optical phenomena, thermodynamics, phase transitions, structure, NMR and orientation controlled spectroscopy). In all three areas, experimental manuscripts describing both preparation and properties will be considered.

SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIAL

A fully completed CIF (Crystallographic Information File) should be deposited with the CCDC (send files as attachments to deposit@ccdc.cam.ac.uk) and the returned deposition number quoted in the experimental section of the manuscript.
