About the journal
This journal brings together information from the many disciplines involved in psychosomatic medicine, such as gynecology, gynecological endocrinology, nursing and nurse midwifery, obstetrics, perinatology, psychiatry, psychology and reproductive endocrinology.
Instructions to Authors
Scope and Purpose The Journal of Psychosomatic Obstetrics and Gynecology will bring together information in the field of Psychosomatic Medicine related to Obstetrics and Gynecology. It is intended to provide a forum for the many disciplines involved such as Ethology, Gynecology, Gynecological Oncology, Nursing and Nurse Midwifery, Obstetrics, Perinatology, Psychiatry, Psychology and Reproductive Endocrinology, and will therefore publish clinical and basic information of multidisciplinary interest.
Types of papers: 1. Full Length Papers. Full length papers reporting original results within the field of Psychosomatic Obstetrics and Gynecology. These may include critical reviews, clinical reports, theoretical contributions and papers on methodology and treatment. 2. Short Communications. Short communications of up to 1500 words or equivalent space in tables and illustrations. It is expected that these papers will be published in the next available issue. 3. Letters to the Editor. 4. Announcemenfs, Book Reviews and Opinions are invited, but will be published at the Editor's discretion. Copyright: It is a condition of publication that the authors transfer the world copyright of their manuscripts to the publishers. All manuscripts should therefore be accompanied by a signed statement that the article is original, is not under consideration or has not been previously published in another journal. Nevertheless, authors will be entitled to publish any part of their paper elsewhere without permission provided the usual acknowledgements are given. Authors will be notified if a request to publish a part or whole of their paper is received. The assignment of the copyright will not affect subsisting patent rights or arrangements relating to them. Illustrations, tables or quotations from other publications are already copyrighted and can be reproduced only with written permission from the copyright owner. Written permission to use these should accompany the manuscript. Advertisements: Rates are available from the Publisher upon request. The publishers reserve the right to refuse publication. Ethical review: The Editor and Publishers support the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki, and expect that the authors of papers submitted to the Journal will have obtained ethical consent and followed those legal and regulatory requirements for human experimentation with drugs, including informed consent, according to procedures which apply in their institution and country. Authority and responsibility: The intellectual content of the paper is the responsibility of the authors. The Editor and the Publishers accept no responsibility for opinions and statements of authors. While every effort will be made by the Editor and Publishers to avoid inaccurate and misleading data, they accept no liability whatsoever for the consequences of wrong information. The authors undertake to keep the Editor and the Publishers fully and effectually indemnified against any liability or claims that may arise out of the publication of inaccurate and/or misleading data. Submission of manuscripts: Four complete copies of manuscripts should be submitted. The substance of manuscripts must not have been published other than in preliminary form.

Presentation: Manuscripts should be typed, double spaced on one side of A4 size paper, leaving a 5 cm margin at the top and left-hand side of the sheet. Papers should be structured into headed sections as follows: Title page, Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, and References. Each section should begin on a new sheet and be identified with the shoulder heading. Other sub-section headings within the main headings may be used but should be limited. The first page should include: title, first and last name of the authors and their affiliations, short title (no more than 20 letters), key words (5 - 8), and the address for correspondence. In addition to the typed manuscript, a floppy disk should also be submitted (Word or Wordperfect). Abstract: An abstract not exceeding 200 words should state what was done, the main findings, and how the work was interpreted. Style: Abbreviations and symbols must be standard and SI units used throughout. Statistical analyses must explain the methods used. The use of footnotes is not permitted. Single quotation marks should be used. The Editor reserves the right to alter manuscripts whenever necessary to make them conform to the stylistic and bibliographic conventions of the journal. Literature cited: References should be numbered consecutively throughout the text and cited as superscript numerals. They should be listed in full at the end of the article following the Vancouver style: Please note: (1) The names and initials of the first three authors should be given in full, followed by et al.; (2) Medical journal abbreviations follow the Index Medicus usage; (3) Unpublished work, work in preparation or personal communications should not be used as references but merely mentioned in the text; and (4) References should be typed double-spaced as for the rest of the manuscript. Examples of the correct forms for references are given below.

Acknowledgements: The scientific and material contributions of others to the work should be acknowledged. Any grant supports should be listed and permission for reproduction of published material acknowledged. Illustrations: All illustrations (photographs or line drawings) should be about 1 1/2 times the intended final size. Glossy prints of photographs are necessary. Any lettering or annotation on photographs or line drawings should be indicated on a tracing overlay or a photocopy of the original. The use of symbols in illustrations should be consistent with usage within the paper. All illustrations should be identified on the back by the name of the principal author and the figure number. If the orientation of an illustration is not obvious it should be indicated on the back. All illustrations should be numbered as figures whether they are photographs, representational drawings or graphs. Legends for illustrations should be collected together and presented on a separate manuscript page. All illustrations should be specifically referred to in the text, e.g., Figure 2. Authors will be expected to defray the extra cost of printing any illustration in colour (details on request). Tables: Tables ideally should not have more than 80 characters to the line (counting spaces between columns as 4 characters) unless absolutely unavoidable. Each table should be on a separate page with its caption. The following symbols should be used for notes All tables should be specifically referred to in the text, e.g., Table 3. Proofs: The designated author will receive copies of the proofs, which should be read carefully for errors. The corrected proof must be returned promptly. Authors will be asked to defray the expense of any major alterations to the proofs which are departures from the original copy. Offprints: Twenty-five offprints of each article will be provided free of charge.
