Journal of Psychophysiology An International Journal ISSN 0269-8803 Official Publication of the Federation of European Psychophysiological Societies
|
The Journal of Psychophysiology is an international periodical that presents original research in all fields employing psychophysiological techniques, or that is of relevance to their interpretation. Contributions are published from psychology, physiology, clinical psychology, psychiatry, neurosciences, pharmacology, and genetics. The Journal also acknowledges the important contribution that animal research makes to these areas. Moreover, communications on new methodologies, such as recording technology, data reduction, statistical methods, as well as computer hardware and software, are also presented.
In addition to reports of original research, consideration is given to reviews and theoretical papers, including open peer commentary when appropriate. Space is also allocated for letters to the editor, book reviews, announcements of congresses, and proceedings of meetings of the various national societies which constitute the Federation of European Psychophysiology Societies.
Instructions to Authors
Submission of manuscripts:
One original and three copies of manuscripts, in English, should be sent to the Editor-in-Chief. Only one copy, including the illustrations will be returned to the author if a paper is not accepted. Authors may not submit manuscripts that have been published in the same form in another language or are under consideration for publication elsewhere. Receipt of manuscripts will be acknowledged.
Ethics: Authors reporting experimental studies must state that the research recieved prior approval by the appropriate institutional review body and that, in the case of research on humans, informed consent was obtained from subjects or patients participating in the study. Manuscripts describing investigations in animals must indicate clearly the measures taken to eliminate pain and suffering.
Preparation of manuscripts: Manuscripts should be typewritten double-spaced on one side only with wide margins (not less then 2.5 cm on the left and right). Each page of the manuscript should be numbered. The front page should contain the title of the article, initials and names of the authors and affiliation(s), up to six key words, a running title, and an address for correspondence including telephone and telefax numbers and e-mail address. The second page should contain an abstract which should not exceed 300 words and should be intelligible without recourse to the main text. The rest of the manuscript should then follow in the order: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, References, Tables, Figures, and Legends. Full details on the preparation of diskettes will be sent with the notification of acceptance of manuscripts for publication.
Illustrations: Original drawings must be submitted in a form ready for the printer. Care should be taken to ensure that lettering and detail will be legible after the size reduction necessary for publication. The number, author's name, title of the article, and an indication of the top should be written on the back of each illustration.
References: Authors are responsible for checking the accuracy of all references and that there is exact agreement between text and Reference List. The Harvard system is required. Cite references in the text by author(s) name(s) followed by the year in chronological order. With more than two authors, name only the first followed by et al. In the Reference List, the surnames and initials of each author should be followed by year of publication (in parentheses), article title, journal name in full and volume number (italics), inclusive page numbers. The Reference List should be in alphabetical order of author(s) name(s) with two or more references to the same author(s) being in chronological order. For examples of the forms of citation of papers, books, and chapters in books, see any recent issue of the Journal.
Society Proceedings: Abstracts from proceedings of member societies of the Federation are published without charge if received by the Editor-in-Chief within three months of the meeting. Abstracts must be in English, each typed double-spaced, and no longer than 200 words. Each abstract should be preceded by a number, title, author(s) name(s), author(s) affilation(s), city, and country. It is the responsibility of the secretaries of the member societies to ensure that these instrucions are complied with. A separate page should give the title of the member society and the place and date of the meeting. Two complete sets of abstracts should be submitted. Submission of society proceedings in electronic form is strongly encouraged.
Copyright: Authors submitting a paper do so on the understanding that if it is accepted for publication exclusive copyright in the paper shall be assigned to the European Federation of Psychophysiology Societies. The Federation will not, however, put any liimitation on the personal freedom of the author to use material contained in the paper in other works.
Offprints: 25 offprints of each paper will be available free of charge to the first author. Additional reprints may be ordered for a fee; this order must be placed simultaneously with the returning of the galleys to the publishers.
