About the journal
The Journal invites for review original papers dealing with interactions of chemicals with biological systems. All aspects of pharmacology and therapeutics are appropriate, but descriptive case reports without dose-response or mechanistic studies are not acceptable. Manuscripts dealing primarily with new methods will be reviewed only if data are presented showing that new or more reliable pharmacological information has been obtained with their use.
Instructions to Authors
The American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) is pleased to announce that the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics is now available online. The online Journal contains the full content of each issue, including all figures and tables. In addition, the full text is searchable by keyword, and the cited references include hyperlinks to Medline and to the full text of many other online journals.
Online full-text content begins with the January, 1997 issue, and will expand with each month's new issues. Abstracts are online beginning with 1975 issues; tables of contents back to mid-1965 are online and searchable as well.
Note:
Effective April 28, 2005, manuscripts accepted for publication in the primary-research journals of The American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics will be freely accessible to all. The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, Molecular Pharmacology, and Drug Metabolism and Disposition publish manuscripts online upon acceptance as "Fast Forward" articles.
For all current and future "Fast Forward" articles, the final manuscript version will remain freely accessible after the fully formatted and copyedited version is put online. ASPET will continue to make all of its journals' content freely available 12 months after publication. (NJ Editor 29 April 2005)
The November, 1997 issue is the latest issue online; the December issue is expected online on December 8. Each issue will be placed online approximately on the date it is mailed to subscribers, so the online site may be days or even weeks ahead of your receipt of a paper copy.
In the future, the table of contents of the upcoming issues will be placed online, as a "future table of contents."
The Web site also provides access to information about the journal (such as Instructions to Authors, the Editorial Board, and subscription information and on-line subscription ordering), as well as access to other services.
The site is free and available to all on the Internet through February 1998. Thereafter, access will be by institutional site license, which comes with all institutional subscriptions, or by personal subscription. Members, who can subscribe to the collection of all ASPET journals on-line for a single annual fee of $50, will have certain enhanced features available to them.
We very much encourage you, on your first visit to the site, to "sign the guestbook." This will take only a minute or two, and will give us helpful information about who the online readers are, and how they are connecting to us. In addition, we would appreciate comments, critiques, questions, or suggestions from you; these can be sent via the Feedback button found on all pages of the site. Feedback from readers will help the us decide what new features would be most valuable for the site, and how well it is working for its readers.
In addition to The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, all ASPET journals are or will shortly be online: Molecular Pharmacology is now online at www.molpharm.org, and Drug Metabolism and Disposition is now online at www.dmd.org. ASPET's Pharmacological Reviews will be online in mid-1998. All of these journals can be accessed via a single URL:
http://www.aspet.org/
The site is being produced in conjunction with Stanford University's HighWire Press, which also works with other medical/research journals, such as Science Magazine, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. A list of online journals and URLs is available at
http://highwire.stanford.edu
Please feel free to post or circulate this note among your departmental, lab, and library colleagues.
