About the journal
|
Journal of Low Temperature Physics serves an an international medium for the publication of original papers, letters, and articles on fundamental theoretical and experimental research developments in all areas of cryogenics and low temperature physics. Subject areas include:
- Superconductivity.
- Superfluidity, quantum solids, liquids and gases.
- Matter waves; ultracold quantum gases, laser cooling.
- Macroscopic quantum effects and coherence.
- Magnetism and electronic properties, transport and phonon phenomena at low temperatures.
- Active areas in condensed matter physics, such as localization, quantum Hall effect, heavy Fermions etc.
- Quantum size effects and mesoscopic systems.
- Low temperature technology that concerns new areas of experimental research, and applications.

Instructions to Authors
Scope: The Journal of Low Temperature Physics publishes original papers on theoretical and experimental research in low temperature physics, including "Rapid Communications," regular and review articles, and occasionally conference proceedings. Rapid Communications are articles describing theoretical and experimental research containing results and predictions that are novel, important, and of immediate interest to the scientific community; their maximum length should be 10 (journal) pages, which corresponds to 20,500 characters (including text, text spaces, equations, figures, and tables). All papers are carefully reviewed, and the Editorial Board and Policy Committee's objective is to maintain the highest standards of publication. It is hoped that the journal will appeal on an international basis to those who wish to see papers on low temperature physics combined in one publication.
Submission of papers: Manuscripts (Regular articles and Rapid Communications), should be submitted electronically to:
Dr. Neil Sullivan, Editor 2014 Turlington Hall University of Florida Gainesville, FL 32611, USA
Fax: (352)392-3584 Telephone: (352)392-0780 [From outside the USA:dial coode 001-] e-mail: sullivan@phys.ufl.edu or
Dr. Frank Pobell, Editor Forschungszentrum Rossendorf P.O.B. 510119 D-01314 Dresden, Germany
Fax: 49-351-2602700 Telephone: 49-351-2603344 e-mail: f.pobell@fz-rossendorf.de Conference Proceedings and review articles should be submitted electronically to:
Dr. Horst Meyer, Editor Department of Physics Durham, NC 27708-0305,USA
Fax: (919)660-2525 Telephone: (919)660-2520 [From outside the USA: dial code 001-] e-mail: hm@phy.duke.edu
In general, manuscripts from the Americas, Australia, and Japan should be submitted to Neil Sullivan; manuscripts from Africa, Asia (except Japan), and Europe should be submitted to Frank Pobell; manuscripts from any other area may be submitted to either Editor. Authors are requested to provide their telephone and fax numbers, and electronic mail address.
Submission is a representation that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. A statement transferring copyright from the authors (or their employers, if they hold the copyright) to Plenum Publishing Corporation will be required before the manuscript can be accepted for publication. The necessary forms for this transfer is available from the Editors. Such a written Transfer of Copyright, which previously was assumed to be implicit in the act of submitting a manuscript, is necessary under the U.S. Copyright Law in order for the publisher to carry through the dissemination of research results and reviews as widely and effectively as possible.
Manuscripts must be in English, typed with double spacing on one side of the paper only, accompanied by two copies, and include an abstract. In the covering letter, an e-mail address, phone, and fax number should be supplied. Updated information for the electronic or hard-copy submission of papers and for the preparation of manuscripts in the "camera-ready" format for Rapid Communications and for Conference Proceedings is found in the JLTP home page.
The style of the manuscripts should follow the recommendations made, for example, by the American Institute of Physics. Upon acceptance of a manuscript, the Editors reserve the right to introduce formal changes consistent with the overall style of the journal. This applies to such items as numeration of sections and subsections, numeration of equations and references, footnotes, and citation of equations and references throughout the text.
Illustrations (photographs, drawings, diagrams, and charts) are to be numbered in one consecutive series of Arabic numerals. The captions for illustrations should be typed on a separate sheet of paper. Photographs should be large, glossy prints, showing high contrast. Drawings should be prepared with india ink. Either the original drawings or good-quality photographic prints are acceptable. Identify figures on the back with author's name and number of the illustration.
Tables should have an explanatory title and should be numbered and referred to by number in the text. Each table should be typed on a separate sheet of paper.
References should be made by using superscript Arabic numerals, and the full references should be given in a list at the end of the paper. For maximum clarity, abbreviations should be avoided in the references. Whenever a book is cited, the number of the relevant chapter should be given.
After a manuscript has been accepted for publication and after all revisions have been incorporated, manuscripts should be submitted to the Editor's Office as hard copy accompanied by electronic files on disk. Label the disk with identifying information ¡ª software, journal name, and first author's last name. The disk must be the one from which the accompanying manuscript (finalized version) was printed out. The Editor's Office cannot accept a disk without its accompanying, matching hard-copy manuscript.
The journal makes no page charges. Reprints are available to authors, and order forms with the current price schedule are sent with proofs (except reprint order forms are sent by the Editors to authors of accepted Rapid Communications papers).
