SCOPE
The Journal of Analytical Chemistry ( Zhurnal Analiticheskoi Khimii) covers theoretical and objects analyzed applied aspects of analytical chemistry; it informs the reader of new achivements in analytical methods, and analytes; new instruments; and reagents. Ample space is devoted to problems arising in the analysis of vital media such as water and air. Consideration is given to the detection and determination of metal ions, anions, and various organic and other substances. The Journal of Analytical Chemistry is intended for scientists and specialists at research institutes, universities, and other educational establishments; for students at institutions of higher education; and for analysts working in industry, agriculture, medicine, and environmental services.

The Journal of Analytical Chemistry is abstracted and/or indexed in:
Academic OneFile, Academic Search, Analytical Abstracts, Cengage, Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), Chemistry Citation Index, ChemWeb, Chimica, Compendex, CSA/Proquest, Current Abstracts, Current Contents/Physical, Chemical and Earth Sciences, Expanded Academic, Food Science and Technology Abstracts, Google Scholar, IBIDS, INIS Atomindex, Journal Citation Reports/Science Edition, OCLC, Reaction Citation Index, Science Citation Index, Science Citation Index Expanded (SciSearch), SCOPUS, Summon by Serial Solutions, TOC Premier.

Instructions to Authors

The Zhurnal Analiticheskoi Khimii publishes original theoretical and experimental papers that have not been previously published concerning all branches of analytical chemistry. Submitted works should make a new scientific contribution to the corresponding area of knowledge.
Also published in the journal are feature articles; reviews; letters to the editor; expert opinions; information on analytical instruments, reagents, laboratories, and scientific personnel; book reviews; a chronicle; and advertisements.
The following instructions should be followed when preparing manuscripts:
(1)** A manuscript is submitted to the editor with an authorization to publish it from the institution where the work was carried out. If the work is a part of a dissertation, this should be noted in the cover letter.
(2) The lengths of original papers, reviews, and short communications or letters to the editor should not exceed 15, 30, and 5 pages, respectively.
Manuscripts should be typed in double-spaced lines on a typewriter or computer in a large and clear type or font (of size no less than 12) with 3- to 4-cm borders and overall page numbering (at the center of top margins).
Tables, figure captions, and references should be typed on separate pages.
Manuscripts should be signed by all of the authors and submitted in duplicate (electronic version is also submitted).
(3) The main heading appears in the following order: UDC, the title of the article (in all capital letters), a copyright sign, a list of authors by initials and surname, a list of affiliations and complete mailing addresses of the authors (including zip code, city, street, and number; for universities, the faculty or department should be given), and the date the article was received (if necessary, in final form).
If there is more than one affiliation and address, use asterisks to indicate the institute with which each author is affiliated.
In the subsequent text, the following format is desirable: abstract, concise review of literature and formulation of the aim of the work, experimental (reagents, instrumentation, and operating procedures), results and discussion, references, and figure captions.
(4) Use SI units of measure and adhere to the nomenclature recommended by IUPAC.
(5) Mathematical notations and chemical formulas must be clearly inserted; capital letters should be double straight underscored, and lowercase letters should be double straight overscored ( and ); italics should be wavy underscored ( and ); subscripts and superscripts should be marked with the corresponding curves (); zero should be underscored with a square bracket; characters of the Greek alphabet and hyphens should be marked with red and green pencils, respectively.
(6) Figures and photographs (no more than five, sized 9 × 12 cm) should be presented as camera-ready originals. The legend should be in the figure captions (except for brief numerical of literal (in order from left to right or clockwise) notations). Each figure should be marked on the face (in the free bottom margin) with the figure number, surnames of the authors, and the titles of the article and the journal.
(7) Each table should be provided with a heading and an ordinal number; the word Table appears to the left of the heading; use asterisks to indicate notes to the tables. Data should be metrologically processed (the number of measurements, errors, etc., should be given) and typed in double-spaced lines.
Positions of the tables and figures should be marked (as they are first referred to) in the left margins of the manuscript.
(8) References should be typed in a list at the end of the article and numbered in the order of appearance in the text, tables, or figures.
Citations in the text should be denoted by numbers in square brackets.
The surnames of foreign authors are given in Russian transcription; their original Latin spelling should be given in parentheses.
The list of references is formulated as follows:

(a) items for book references include the authors’ surnames and initials (period), the complete title of the book (period), the city (colon), the publisher (comma), the year of publication (period), and the page number(s);
(b) items for references to articles in journals include the authors’ surnames and initials (double slash mark), the title of the journal (period), the year of publication (period), the volume number (period), the issue number (period), and the page number(s);
(c) items for references to meeting papers (which should be cited in exceptional cases) include the authors’ surnames and initials (double slash mark), the name of the meeting or conference (for example, Tez. Dokl. Vseros. shkoly-seminara po avtomatizatsii khimicheskikh issledovanii (Abstracts of Papers, All- Russia School–Workshop on the Automation of Chemical Research) (period), the city (comma), the year of publication (period), and the page number(s);
(d) items for references to dissertations include the author’s surname and initials (period), Dis. … kand. khim. nauk (Cand. Sci. (Chem.) Dissertation) (period), the city (colon), the institute (comma), the year of publication (period), and the number of pages.

The surnames of authors (but not editors) should be wavy underscored or italicized.
(9) Authors have three months to correct the article; after this lapse of time, the returned article is considered as newly received.
Proofs are dispatched to the authors for approval.
(10) Authors are requested to include a note, typed on a separate page, of their first names, patronymics, and surnames; addresses; telephone (with city codes) and fax (telex) numbers, or e-mail.
The authors receive the electronic version of their paper free of charge upon the publication of the journal issue. Also, five offprints of each paper are provided free of charge upon publication of the journal issue.
Since 1995, the journal has been published simultaneously in both Russian and English. To improve the quality of the English version and for more adequate translation, complex sentences should be avoided, and English terms and keywords should be given (if necessary, in the margins). In addition, items of reference to translated books of foreign authors in the list of references should include the title of the book in its original language, the city, the publisher, and the year of publication of the original work.
Advertisements for analytical instruments, methods, and procedures developed may also be published inside the cover of the journal (according to prescribed rates).

Instructions for Authors, Standards, and Recommendations on the Presentation of the Results of Chemical analysis are displayed on the journals Internet website: http://www.geokhi.ru/~zhakh.
The text of the author agreement for the Russian version of the Journal is placed on the web site of the Nauka Publishing House at www.naukaran.ru and for the English version of the Journal at http://www.maik.ru.
