International Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications
Today, the discipline of Circuit Theory has extended far beyond its traditional boundaries, while the application of circuit theoretic ideas has made notable contributions to many diverse fields of science and engineering. The International Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications is devoted to the publication of original work on both the theory and its applications. The essential feature of the material published is that the ideas or techniques of Circuit Theory should have played a prominent part in the solution or elucidation of the problem. The bringing together of papers describing advances in the theory and in the application of circuit theoretic concepts is intended to be of interest both in stimulating the wider use of such concepts and in posing new challenges for the circuit theorist.
The Editorial Board which presides over the Journal is drawn from many countries in order to maintain contact with the subject area on the widest possible basis. The Board also plays an essential part in the refereeing of papers to the highest international standards.
The scope of the Journal comprises all aspects of the theory and design of analog and digital circuits together with the application of the ideas and techniques of circuit theory in other fields of science and engineering. Examples of the areas covered include: Fundamental Circuit Theory together with its mathematical and computational aspects; Circuit modeling of devices; Synthesis and design of filters and active circuits; Neural networks; Nonlinear and chaotic circuits; Signal processing and VLSI; Distributed, switched and digital circuits; Power electronics; Solid state devices. Contributions to CAD and simulation are welcome.
Contributions may consist of Papers or Letters to the Editor. Papers may be of a research or tutorial nature and the requirements for publication may be briefly stated as originality and significance. Letters to the Editor (each limited to about 1000 words) must also be original but generally comprise a more restricted coverage of a topic, or present some preliminary results. A Letter to the Editor may also comment on published results; pose some new problem; draw attention to some application or otherwise be of technical interest. From time-to-time Special Issues of the Journal are published. These are devoted to some topic of current importance and are edited by invited Guest Editors. Such Special Issues are announced through a Call-for-Papers in the Journal and the Guest Editors are responsible for the selection of papers to be published.

Instructions to Authors
Instructions to Authors
Initial manuscript submission. Submit three copies of the manuscript (including copies of tables and illustrations) to Professor J. O. Scanlan, Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, University College Dublin, Dublin 4, Ireland.
Authors must also supply:
- an electronic copy of the final version (see section below),
- a Copyright Transfer Agreement with original signature(s) - without this we are unable to accept the submission, and
- permission grants - if the manuscript contains extracts, including illustrations, from other copyright works (including material from on-line or intranet sources) it is the author's responsibility to obtain written permission from the owners of the publishing rights to reproduce such extracts using the Wiley Permission Request Form. Permission grants should be submitted with the manuscript.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been previously published and should not be submitted for publication elsewhere while they are under consideration by Wiley. Submitted material will not be returned to the author unless specifically requested.
Electronic submission. The electronic copy of the final, revised manuscript must be sent to the Editor together with the paper copy. Disks should be PC or Mac formatted; write on the disk the software package used, the name of the author and the name of the Journal. We are able to use most word-processing packages, but prefer Word, WordPerfect or TeX or one of its derivatives. Illustrations must be submitted in electronic format where possible. Save each figure as a separate file, in TIFF or EPS format preferably, and include the source file. Write on the disk the software package used to create them; we favour dedicated illustration packages over tools such as Excel or Powerpoint.
Manuscript style. The language of the Journal is English. All submissions must have a title, be printed on one side of the paper, be double-line spaced and have a margin of 30 mm all round. Illustrations and tables must be printed on separate sheets, and not be incorporated into the text.
- The title page must list the full title and the names and affiliations of all authors. Give the full address, including e-mail, telephone and fax, of the author who is to check the proofs.
- Include the name(s) of any sponsor(s) of the research contained in the paper, along with grant number(s).
- Supply a summary of up to 200 words for all articles. This is a concise summary of the whole paper, not just the conclusions, and is understandable without reference to the rest of the paper. It should contain no citation to other published work.
- Include up to eight key words that describe your paper for indexing purposes.
Reference style. References should be marked in the text using an Arabic numeral [in square brackets] and listed at the end of the paper in the order in which they appear in the text. All references must be complete and accurate. Online citations should include date of access. If necessary, cite unpublished or personal work in the text but do not include it in the reference list. References should be listed in the following style:
- Ogorzalek MJ, Galia Z, Dabrowski A, Dabrowski W. Spatio-temporal cooperative phenomena in CNN arrays composed of chaotic circuits: simulation experiments. International Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications 1996; 24(3):261-268.
- Cunningham DR, Stuller JA. Circuit Analysis; Wiley: New York, 1994; 1-10.
Illustrations. Supply each illustration on a separate sheet, with the lead author's name, the figure number and the top of the figure indicated, on the reverse. Supply original photographs; photocopies or previously printed material are not acceptable. Line artwork must be high-quality laser output (not photocopies). Tints are not acceptable; lettering must be of a reasonable size that would still be clearly legible upon reduction, and consistent within each figure and set of figures. Electronic versions of the artwork should be supplied at the intended size for printing; the maximum column width is 143 mm. The cost of printing colour illustrations in the Journal may be charged to the author. If colour illustrations are supplied electronically in either TIFF or EPS format, they may be used in the PDF of the article at no cost to the author, even if this illustration was printed in black and white in the Journal. The PDF will appear on the Wiley InterScience website.
Copyright. To enable the publisher to disseminate the author's work to the fullest extent, the author must sign a Copyright Transfer Agreement, transferring copyright in the article from the author to the publisher, and submit the original signed agreement with the article presented for publication. A copy of the agreement to be used (which may be photocopied) can be found in the first issue of each volume of the International Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications. Copies may also be obtained from the journal editor or publisher, or may be printed from this website.
Further information. Proofs will be sent to the author for checking. This stage is to be used only to correct errors that may have been introduced during the production process. Prompt return of the corrected proofs, preferably within two days of receipt, will minimize the risk of the paper being held over to a later issue. Twenty-five complimentary offprints will be provided to the author who checked the proofs, unless otherwise indicated. Further offprints and copies of the Journal may be ordered. There is no page charge to authors.
