R. China and published by the Higher Education Press in China.       The journal sets up four columns including original papers, communications, notes and reviews concentrating on the most recent research achievements of the basic theories, and significant achievements of advanced sciences and technologies in various areas of chemistry contributed by the researchers from Chinese universities and colleges and institutes of Chinese Academy of Sciences all over China and by the researchers overseas.    　The Editorial Board and the Advisory Board of the journal consist of 70 members who are well-known chemists with great academic attainments and working at the key institutions of higher learning and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and 58.6% of the total members are ACAS(the Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences). Prof. Tang Au-chin(ACAS, Jilin University), an outstanding theoretical chemist holds the post of the editor-in-chief. The deputy editors-in-chief include Chen Hong-yuan(ACAS, Nanjing University), Cheng Jie-ke(Wuhan University), Gao Zi(Fudan University), He Bing-lin(ACAS, Nakai University), Jiang Ming(Fudan University), Lin Zu-geng(Xiamen University), Shao Mei-cheng(Peking University), Shen Jia-cong(ACAS, Jilin University), Sun Jia-zhong(ACAS, Jilin University), Wang Ji-tao(Nakai University), Xu Guang-xian(ACAS, Peking University), Xu Ru-ren(ACAS, Jilin University), Yu Ru-qin(ACAS, Hunan University), Zhang Li-he(ACAS, Peking University) and Zhou Xiu-zhong(Nakai University). 　　“Chemical Research in Chinese Universities” has been in the coverage of “SCI Expended”, “Scisearch”, “Research Alert”, “Chemistry Citation Index”, “Current Contents/Physical, Chemical & Earth Sciences” with the impact factors 0.223, 0.229 and 0.370 from JCR in 2001, 2002 and 2003, “Chemical Abstracts”, “Chinese Chemical and Engineering Abstracts”, “Chinese Science Citation Database”, “Current Bibliography on Science and Technology from the Japan Information Center of Science and Technology(JICST)”, “Engineering Information(EI)”, and “Р·Ж” in Russia. 　　The journal had the honour to get the prize of excellent scientific and technology journals sponsored by the universities and colleges directly under the State Education Commission of P. R. China in 1992, the second prize of excellent scientific and technology journals sponsored by the universities and colleges subordinated to the provinces and the state Education Commission of P. R. China in 1997, the first prize of natural science journals sponsored by the universities and colleges of China and excellent scientific and technology journals of the Ministry of Education of P. R.
