About the journal

biophysical mechanisms involved in regulating cell function. The journal publishes state-of-the-art basic, applied, and clinical research in cellular and molecular biochemistry, biophysics, physiology, engineering, biomechanics and structural biology. Applied papers focus on methodology, technique, and instrument design and modification. Clinical papers report the results of investigation of clinical problems via basic research methodologies. All papers are based on analytical and quantitative studies of the properties, structures, and interactions of cells, tissues, and their constituents. The relationship between molecular structure and the specific properties and the functions of cells is also stressed. CBB is a major source for the latest research on the biochemistry and biophysics of cell function and behavior, as well as reviews of the current status of knowledge in the field.

Aims and Scope
The aim of Cell Biochemistry and Biophysics is to foster progress in comprehending the nature of the biochemical and biophysical mechanisms underlying the control of cellular physiological homeostasis and the consequences of its perturbation. The data CBB reports are obtained within the framework of modern biochemistry and chemistry, biophysics and cell physiology, physics and engineering, molecular and structural biology and the medical sciences. The relationship between molecular structure and the nature of the specific property/function under investigation is emphazised. Consonant with this purpose, CBB publishes original quantitative and analytical information on the properties, structure, function, behavior, and interactions of cells and their molecular/macromolecular constituents. CBB also publishes the proceedings of symposia, substantive reviews, substantive reviews, hypotheses and theoretically oriented articles containing clearly identifiable and manipulable experimental parameters that can be tested and applied in the laboratory. Included within the journal's purview are articles describing the quantitative utilization of and innovative developments in: genetic and biomolecular engineering; computer-based analysis of tissues, cells, cell networks, organelles, and molecular/macromolecular assemblies; research in and development of photometric, spectroscopic, microscopic, mechanical, and electrical methodologies/techniques in analytical cytology and cytometry and innovation in instrument design. In addition, CBB publishes letters to the editor, editorials, one-pagers on negative results, book reviews, and meeting/workshop/course announcements.

Within the broad context of cell biochemistry and biophysics, CBB accepts both experimental and theoretical research papers, methodological papers and reviews. Reviews may be minireviews that critically review the work of a single laboratory or full reviews that critically review a particular field. ALL PAPERS ARE PEER REVIEWED.
