About the journal

Cancer Treatment Reviews is an international review journal that will keep both the clinician and researcher abreast of modern concepts and developments in cancer treatment research through the publication of state of the art, authoritative reviews; evidence-based reviews (using a priori defined selection process to identify key articles from the literature and reviewing them in the form of a structured abstract, evidence summary and commentary); and systematic reviews.

With an impact factor of 3.672, each issue provides topical reviews under the following regular sections:

  • comments on controversy,
  • tumour reviews,
  • anti-tumour treatments,
  • new drugs,
  • complications of treatment,
  • general and supportive care,
  • laboratory/clinic interface.

Units & Abbreviations

The Royal Society of Medicine has published Units, Symbols and AbbreviationsMA Guide for Biological and Medical Editors and Authors 4th ed. (Ed.) Baran, D. N. You are requested to follow these, or similar, recommendations (e.g. IUPACIUB Commission on Biochemical Nomenclature), to use metric units and, wherever possible, to adopt the International System of Units (SI). Where SI units have not been universally accepted it is advisable to give values in traditional units in brackets. If abbreviations are used, the terms should be written out in full when first used, the abbreviation then being given in parentheses. Where abbreviations are adopted, capitals are preferred, for example ECG, BMR (not ecg, bmr) without full stops.

Terminology of drugs: It is important that drugs are referred to by their generic names only, since trade names vary from country to country.

Disk/Electronic Submission

After review, authors requested to resubmit should, where possible, supply the editorial office with a copy of the manuscript on disk together with 4 typescript copies. Ensure the disk and typescript match exactly. The Editor will accept a 3.5 inch disk in any IBM or Macintosh word processing format. Please indicate on the label attached to your disk, your name, address, typescript title and name of the word processing package used. Please ensure that all sections of your article are in a single file in the order set out above and with references in the correct style. Tables, with their captions, and figure legends should be supplied on disk in a separate file. Line illustrations may be supplied on disk but must be in a separate file and not embedded in the text. Photographic prints will be handled separately and should not be supplied on disk.

1. Always provide a 3? PC-compatible disk with your manuscript.

2. Ensure that this disk is identical to the hard copy. If not, the hard copy will be used.

3. Save files in WordPerfect or Word and copies as ASCII or RTF.

Authors submitting a manuscript do so on the understanding that, once it is accepted for publication, copyright in the article, including the right to reproduce it in all forms of media, shall be assigned exclusively to the Publisher. The Publisher shall not refuse any reasonable request by the author to reproduce any of his or her contribution elsewhere.

Permissions Information

Owing to problems in obtaining permission to reproduce and store material electronically, authors are requested to avoid the use of previously published material. If seeking permission is unavoidable, it is the author's responsibility to provide it.

Proofs

Proofs will be sent to the corresponding author only, by email as attached PDF files, except in cases of specific requests to the contrary. Only minor corrections are acceptable at this stage.

Offprints

Quotations for offprints are supplied with the proofs and orders should be returned to the publisher with the proofs. Payment must be made with the order.
