About the journal

Applied Mathematics and Mechanics is on applied mathematics and mechanics published in the People's Republic of China. Our editorial committee, headed by Professor Chien Wei-zang, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, President of Shanghai University, and Professor Zhou Zhe-wei, consists of scientists in the fields of applied mathematics and mechanics all over the world.
Founded by Professor Chien Wei-zang in May 1980 as a quarterly, AMM became a bimonthly in 1981 and then a monthly in 1985. It is a comprehensive journal carrying original research papers on mechanics, mathematical methods in mechanics as well as applied mathematics relevant to neoteric mechanics.
This journal has been indexed or reviewed by Science Citation Index (SCI), and Engineering Index Compendex (EI Compendex) , World Translation Index (WTI), Abstract Journals (AJ-PЖ), Mathematics Reviews (MR), Current Mathematical Publications (CSCI), Chinese Science Citation Index (CSCI), Chinese Journal Full-Text Database (CJFD), Wanfang Data-Periodicals (China Info), Chinese Mathematics Abstracts, Chinese Mechanics Abstracts, Chinese Physics Abstracts, Chinese Academic Journal Comprehensive Evaluation Database (CAJCED), etc.

1 Legal requirements The author(s) guarantee(s) that the manuscript will not be published elsewhere in any language without the consent of the copyright holders, that the rights of third parties will not be violated, and that the publisher will not be held legally responsible should there be any claims for compensation. Authors wishing to include figures or text passages that have already been published elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright holder(s) and to include evidence that such permission has been granted when submitting their papers. Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate from the authors. Manuscripts at proof stage must be accompanied by a copyright statement.
2 Manuscript submission guidelines General remarks Manuscripts should be written in LATEX. All submitted manuscripts should be sent to the following address. The manuscript must be typed double-spaced between lines on one side of A4 good quality white paper with a maximum length of 10 pages. Two hard copies including diagrams and tables are required for submission. The submitted material will not be returned to the author(s) unless specifically requested. Electronic submissions via E-mail to amm@department.shu.edu.cn, are strongly encouraged, and send the work in PDF format, to be followed upon the acceptance decision by the TEX file of the final version. Authors should allow approximately 8 weeks for an initial review cycle. Language British or American English but not a mixture of both. Be sure to observe grammatical rules and spell correctly. Title Use the fewest possible words that adequately describe the content of the paper. Author(s) Name(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s), the mailing address, telephone and fax numbers, and E-mail of the corresponding author should be provided. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification should be provided. Abstract and Keywords An abstract should have no more than 150 words and cover the most important results and conclusions. Mathematical expressions and citations to references should be avoided. Indexing keywords are mandatory. Please choose 4 to 6 keywords that describe the major points or topics covered in the article. These will facilitate indexing and information retrieval.
Abbreviations Abbreviations should be defined at first mention in the abstract and again in the main body of the text and used consistently thereafter. Footnotes Essential footnotes to the text should be numbered consecutively and placed at the bottom of the page to which they refer. Introduction The introduction should state the purpose of the investigation and give a short review of the pertinent literature
Illustrations and Tables All figures (photographs, graphs or diagrams) and tables should be cited in the text and numbered consecutively throughout. All images and photographs should be black-and-white; color images will be printed monochromatically. Figure legends must be brief, self-sufficient explanations of the illustrations. The legends should be placed below the figures. Tables should have a title and a legend explaining any abbreviation used in that table. Footnotes to tables should be indicated by superscript lower-case letters (or asterisks for significance values and other statistical data. Acknowledgements Brief and as appropriate. Appendices If there is more than one appendix, they should be numbered consecutively. Equations in appendices should be designated differently from those in the main body of the paper, e.g. (A1), (A2) etc. In each appendix equations should be numbered separately. References All references should be archived materials such as journal articles, books, and conference proceedings. Web pages should not be referenced, since their content and accessibility may change over time. Personal communications and unpublished data are not acceptable references. References published in Chinese must be translated into English and noted by “(in Chinese)”. References require a complete author list, a complete title, and first and last pages cited for each entry. Requirements of standard reference format are given below: [1] Book: Author(s). Title of Book, Publisher, City of publication, referred pages (year of publication) [2] Journal article: Author(s). Title of article. 3 Proofreading LATEX files are slightly modified during the TEX editing process so that the general presentation rules of the journal are adhered to. Corrections should be clear; standard correction marks should be used. Corrections that lead to a change in the page layout should be avoided. Substantial changes in content, e.g. new results, corrected values, title and authorship are not allowed without the approval of the responsible editor. In such a case please contact the Editorial Office before returning the proofs to the publisher. Authors should make their proof corrections on a printout of the PDF file supplied, checking that the text is complete and that all figures and tables are included. The proofs, once corrected, should be signed and returned to the Editorial Office by post, or author(s) should send the statement of corrections via E-mail to amm@department.shu.edu.cn as soon as possible. After online publication, further changes can only be made in the form of an Erratum, which will be hyperlinked to the article.
