Am J Hypertens 1999;12:298-303. 2. Baron EJ, Chang RS, Howard DH, Miller JN, Turner JA: Medical Microbiology: A Short Course. Wiley-Liss, New York, 1994, pp 39-41. 3. Elias M, Elias P: Motivation and activity, in Birren JE, Schaie KE (eds): Handbook of the Psychology of Aging. Authors should proportion figures so that they will fit into one column, unless the information content of the figures requires two columns to adequately present the data. Since text may lose legibility with adjustment, a plain font should be selected in the largest size that will fit all necessary information. __When keys are used in figures, use bold patterns; avoid shading. __Figures and tables should be numbered consecutively and cited in the text. __On separate page, legends should be typed double-space for each figure. __All abbreviations used in an illustration should be expanded in a legend.
