About the journal
The Strad has been the voice of the string music world since it was launched in 1890. We share your passion for stringed instruments, whether you are a player, luthier, teacher, or simply love classical music.
Our aim is to be a central part of the strings world, and inspire our readers with articles written by some of the best and most authoritative players, makers and teachers, including John Dilworth and Simon Fischer.

We also produce the following supplements:
1. The Strad Directory: our comprehensive annual listing of the strings world.
2. Degrees: full listing of international educational courses for string players and teachers.
3. Summerplus: comprehensive guide to summer courses and events for the string music world.
4. Festival supplements: we produce special supplements for a number of events, including the Cremona festival.
5. Posters: our A1 posters also feature the very best instruments, with full measurements on the reverse. We produce two per year.

Our hard-won reputation for quality is backed up with a fully-independent circulation audit, courtesy of the BPA. Our circulation is 11,308 copies per month (BPA audit Apr-Jun 2008). This equates to a conservatively estimated worldwide readership of 55,000 people.
