Reviews of current scholarly books are included in every issue, often presented as review essays, and a forum offers readers the opportunity to respond to issues raised in articles and book reviews. Thematic clusters of articles and frequent special issues on such topics as "The Scholar as Storyteller:  Essays In Honor of Harold G. Scheub," "Creative Writing In African Landscapes," "Textual Ownership In Francophone African Writing," and "Edwad Said, Africa, and Cultural Criticism" reveal the broad interests of its readership. Instructions to Authors The editor invites scholarly contributions on all aspects of the oral and written literatures of Africa. Manuscripts, not exceeding 35 pages in length, may be submitted in English, French, or other languages, but they will generally be published in English. Papers should be double-spaced with references incorporated into the text, followed by a list of works cited at the end, and should conform to The MLA Style Manual (1985). Include a self-addressed return envelope and postage.
