About the journal

Poe Studies/Dark Romanticism provides a forum for interpretive, cumulative dialogue about Poe's life and writings; about the cultural and material contexts that conditioned the production and reception of his work; and about his interrelationships with other writers, especially those who work in traditions of dark romanticism. Features include review essays, periodic special issues dealing with such topics as "Poe and Gender," and a periodic "International Poe Bibliography." Feel free to email the editors, Alexander Hammond, and Jana L. Argersinger, with comments or queries; or call us at 509-335-4795.

Instructions to Authors

Manuscript Submissions

Poe Studies/Dark Romanticism invites submission of original articles and notes, welcomes work grounded in a wide range of theoretical and critical perspectives, and encourages inquiries proposing submissions and projects.

Contributions should conform to The Chicago Manual of Style, 14th edition (for convenience, consult Turabian's Manual, 6th edition, chapter 9) and to aid blind review, the author's name should not appear on the essay itself. Submissions should include two copies of the typescript as well as provisions for the return of one copy, if desired, and an electronic file in Microsoft Word or Rich Text Format. Email attachments are also exceptable.

Time of report is normally two to four months. Address submissions to the Editors, Poe Studies/Dark Romanticism, Department of English, Washington State University, Pullman, WA 99164-5020.
