About the journal
Founded in 1955, Phronesis has become the most authoritative scholarly journal for the study of ancient Greek and Roman thought (ancient philosophy, psychology, metaphysics, epistemology and the philosophy of science and medicine) from its origins down to the end of the sixth century A.D.
Phronesis offers the reader specialist articles and book notes from top scholars in Europe and North America. The language of publication is in practice English, although papers in Latin, French, German and Italian are also published.
Instructions to Authors
Submission of papers
Papers submitted for publication should be sent to Professor Verity Harte. They may be written in English, French, German, Italian or Latin.
Electronic submissions are welcome; they should be sent as PDF attachments (with any Greek fonts embedded) to e-mails addressed to verity.harte@yale.edu. Alternatively, hard copies may also be submitted by sending three copies to: Prof. Verity Harte Department of Philosophy Yale University P.O. Box 208306 New Haven CT 06520-8306 USA Paper copies must be typewritten on good-quality A4 paper. Please leave four wide margins; all matter, including quotations and footnotes, should be double-spaced. An abstract of 100-150 words and 2-6 keywords, each written in English, should accompany the submission. Footnotes should be numbered consecutively. Passages in Greek, if they are handwritten, should be clear and legible.
Requirements for accepted papers
Upon acceptance, please send the final version in electronic form, on CD or diskette (not by email), in Word or RTF (and not pdf) format, together with a printout. Please include on the CD or diskette an electronic version of any Greek or other special fonts used. Information about the use of Unicode fonts (which are recommended) can be found at http://www.brill.nl/default.aspx?partid=162 (www.brill.nl ?Author Gateway ?Guidelines and Instructions ?Special Scripts & Transliteration). Please state the total number of words in the article (including footnotes).
